Looks like Oglivie played well in the opener for the YNT as an OH. Excited that she got the starting nod

That's only if an injury occurs. No injury = no playing time whatsoever to be eligible for a redshirt season. I don't want anyone injured, but if we aren't going to use xu this year, then someone break her pinky! you have to have a backup at setter. That's a skill position where you don't want to mess around.

Hambly needs to figure out serve receive in Ro. 2 - having Fitz come around on the slide is not working. He needs to reconfigure his SR pattern and pull Fitz over the right - maybe play with an X pattern with Fitz coming in the middle and Gates going around for a slide?
And also, Jenna needs to set a better ball behind her.
Anyway, Stanford lost that match a year ago, tonight they pulled it out. I really liked Kipp and thought she needed to get the ball more.
It's only going to get tougher with Penn State in Rec Hall on Friday, but they have a week of practice to figure some things out.
If Jenna can : connect consistently with Gates and Campbell, locate the ball better to Fitz, and we can figure out SR in Ro. 2 - they'll be fine.

Just watched Texas at Stanford match. Plummer’s passing was unbelievably good compared to what I often saw last year.
Early in her club days Kipp played right side. If Fitz is not 100% healthy what about subbing in Kipp. It won’t happen because Kipp has to learn one DI position at a time. Right now she needs to focus on getting the game plan and positioning down for playing on the left side.

Well approximately 4 years ago they had someone learn a new position very early in the season, and look how that turned out.

Kipp has played right side before so I think it’s a good idea to keep her as an option for if Fitz can’t put a ball away and McClure could go all around. Fitz and Gates were having a tough time both today and against Florida, so hopefully they work on it with Gray.

Also : am I the only one who wishes Stanford would put together some player / coach quotes after matches how other teams do?

Good fight by the card, hentz has been a little off against Florida and Texas I hope that will clear up, I'm sure it will. Plummer is looking the best I've ever seen her. That's a great Texas team, imo the second best team in the country right now

That's a great Texas team, imo the second best team in the country right now I think she is just getting use to Gates as a blocker. Her defense was great when Campbell was blocking. Gray has really been struggling with location and defensively. I'm more worried about McClure's passing. With her front row duties being depleted, is it messing with her mentally?

The match today was interesting with a lot of ups and downs. Though, I do find it interesting to see the comments about Plummer's passing. I felt like it was actually pretty bad throughout the whole match. But furthermore, her defense was atrocious. Through almost the first 3 games she only had one dig (she got a 2nd at the very end of set 3). And not only were the digs lacking the first three games, but she was't even moving when the balls were right to her. That was a problem and hopefully she fixes it. That being said, she has been phenomenal offensively this year and is just lights when front row.
Our biggest problem is the rotation when they sub McClure front row for Kipp's last rotation for serve receive. The intention is clear...have McClure in there to help pass. But it's not working. It's when Texas went on a huge run in game 4. It was a 13 point run. Plummer couldn't pass. Hentz wasn't passing either. Fitz couldn't put a ball away. McClure can't put a ball away against a big block. And Jenna and Gates couldn't connect. I think Hambly waited too long to put Kipp back in to have a terminator there and right the ship, and then he yanked her quickly again. In that scenario, if there is a run, a DS (C.Keefe?) should come in for Plummer to pass, and Kipp should be front row to hit. I really think they'd have sided out much sooner if a solid passer had been in there for Plummer. Love Plummer, don't get me wrong, but she is a big liability in that rotation, and McClure just can't cut it against a big block. And Fitz seems hurt. Any way you look at it, they need to figure that rotation out. It is the same rotation Texas came back to tie it up in the 5th. It's our kryptonite.
A separate note...so far this year, Plummer has 5.93 kpg, hitting .451. That's amazing. That being said, every other player is under 2 kpg. That's not sustainable.

I think this is largely to do with Jenna's trouble backs etting and fitz not playing as well. She's missing gates and Campbell on the slide which is their best Attacks, so it's hard for the to get kills. I think people said fitz fitz is injured or something like that, idk, but she's not playing how she did last year, so it's a lot of Plummer rn

A great night for Plummer, it was either seven or eight kills in the 5th, kipp looked good when she was in, 6 of her first 10. Formica served it in so yay. When fitz and the slide sets get figured out, it will be unreal
