Wasn't Benjamin highly recruited coming out of HS? Talk about a major disappointment. Senior next year and probably won't play as much.

She played 2 seasons behind (arguably) the best libero in the country... last season was her first with full libero responsibilities... love that this was your first post BTW

Not sure Benjamin was highly recruited; hadn't heard a thing about her on this board before she signed. Sure she was known, but even a Tawa top 100?

Whos the future in the 2013 and 2014 class. I know one or two have been mentioned, any others? OK, I'll bite. What about 2013 Merete Lutz, 6'7" MB out of the Houston, Texas area. I don't know much about her. I heard she didn't play high school last year to train exclusively with club. She will be a project and probably would redshirt her freshman year. All this is total speculation on my part. She is still uncommitted and Tawa says she might become a top 10 Senior Ace. Anyone have any information?

I think Stanford's had enough of the super-super tall "project" players. With the latest class (McGehee, Ajanaku) it seems they're going back to "only" super tall girls but who are quick and athletic.

I'd like to see Stanford go after the next Richards/Barboza/Tom type player. (well who doesn't go after these players) This is a baller that can do it all from day 1. NO MORE PROJECTS, I AGREE!

That's Burgess, I believe. Burgess is great. But I doubt her front row success will match those great players. I believe it's quite possible Howard will be the OH1 and Burgess will be the OH2 in 2014 and 2015.

Jordan Burgess will be the next Tom/ Barboza stud for the Cardinal... And with all the options they have she's going to look even better!

That's Burgess, I believe. Yes, Yes, Yes ... but we'll need a great all-around player to replace Williams in 2014. And, another important priority is a great libero like Ailes.

Might as well get a Kerri Walsh type Opposite while you're at it.

If you're Stanford, why not get a project? They're already loaded in the class ahead, so it's not like there's huge pressure for Lutz to play any time soon. Nice to have a 6'7" person just sitting around your gym for situational stuff.

The Pac 12 schools sure have been recruiting the Dallas, Houston, and Austin areas hard recently, and with success. So, it wouldn't surprise me if she is looking at some schools out West (if she doesn't have her sights set on remaining in-state).

Nice to have a 6'7" person just sitting around your gym for situational stuff. Well they've recruited quite a few in the 6'5"-6'6" range in recent years when they would have been better off with someone with more quickness. I think everyone saw Amanda Gil and wanted one of those, not realizing how truly rare athleticism and mobility at that size is.

If she never develops, they've still got a 6'7" kid they can stick on the right side for a block once in a while.
