We always hear about what football teams have the coolest uniforms... What Womens Volleyball teams out there are playing in style?? OK. I admit. I have always been a fan of reviewing the uniforms of sports team. In volleyball there is so little variation that it is difficult to pick out a favorite. Some of the things I like on uniforms are some of the ways that teams personalize their look. I like the way that Stanford has their numbers and their conference name on the sleeves of their long sleeve uniform. Texas has numbers as well. I like the long sleeve uniform better than the short sleeve uniform. I like it when teams will put their school name or logos on the left front leg of their spandex. As a parent, I wish the volleyball would go away from the spandex and wear something similar to running shorts. One thing I don't like is the offset collar that a lot of Adidas teams work last year.

Gotta go with the same team that has the best football unis though I am not a fan of their football team either. Love teams that REALIZE the name of the Insititution of front of Jersey should make the team buy in the way Notre Dame used to and Penn St still does in NEVER putting the player name on the back of the Uni.
That said, I would go with the Nittany Lions.

GREAT way for a recruit to finalize their recruiting dilemma and sign their NLI with the team with the coolest uniform!

Oh, good. An opportunity to ask silly fashion questions...
How is it decided whether a team will have long sleeves or short sleeves?
Michigan has short sleeves and their gym, Cliff Keen Arena, is uncomfortably hot early in the season. Is that the deciding factor - home gym is hot/cold?
When a long-sleeved team plays in a hot gym are they too hot? When a short-sleeved team plays in a cold gym are they too cold?
Teams have multiple sets of uniforms. Do any teams have both long and short sleeves?
I like the look of long sleeves, but don't think I'd like wearing them. Do they interfere with movement?
I think Penn State's long sleeve uniforms look classy. However, don't like Michigan State's, which are very similar but just too much green.

As a parent, I wish the volleyball would go away from the spandex and wear something similar to running shorts. I hear this a lot from parents, and also some of the girls, in club ball. But let me give you what I thought was an interesting perspective a mom/coach gave me once. She coached a Christian homeschool team, and I asked her why she didn't go with shorts rather than spandex. She told me that her girls felt that spandex was actually MORE modest than shorts, because when they dove no one could see up their shorts. (I also had a mom of a girl on my team with similar reservations about spandex. The club wears spandex, so shorts for her daughter are not an option on gameday. But I suggested she get longer compression shorts and wear them under the uniform spandex. Mother & daughter seem ok with that.) I thought the alternate opinion RE modesty was really interesting -- I never would have thought of it that way -- and just wanted to share...

A long time ago Santa Barbara City College (community college) wore long, flowered, Hawaiian style board shorts and tye-dye T-shirts. At the time they were a polished, talented team who was near the best in California.
It was a little amusing. Teams would make fun of them at the start of tournaments when they first entered the gym. After they won the tournament some teams would have the attitude, “maybe we should get uniforms like that next year”.

Cal was using this "swirly" pattern in 2004-5: It was an alternate pattern that they occasionally used.

As a parent, I wish the volleyball would go away from the spandex and wear something similar to running shorts. Does that you mean you disapprove of the infamous Cuban onesie? It seemed liked everyone was going sleeveless and then all the college teams went back to the long sleeve, which IMO is not conducive to playing volleyball, especially if you sweat profusely. It's not a college uniform but in 2000 when the US NT had Nike as their apparel sponsor I thought the uniforms were simple but flattering.

Stanford -- when they wear their "all blacks." BTW, Cynthia Barboza looked like a pirate when she wore that uni. Remember this:
Cynthia Barboza is a Raider Pillaging just for fun She'll knock you 'round and upside down And laugh when she's conquered and won.

yep they're simple!
I like simple, but I don't think they are "classy".
I recently saw some uniforms at league play that looked like they would be more appropriate at a NASCAR event.

A lot of college players I have spoken to prefer the long sleeve jerseys over the short sleeve. A major reason given it is a lot better to wipe a sweaty face on a long sleeve than on a sweaty arm!
