Assume there is no streaming, but IF there is, can anyone post link....GOD are we desperate....I though I had "died and gone to heaven" when I was able to watch May/Walsh v. Kessy/Ross on some super-low res streaming earlier today....Why can't MLB or other sports be as interesting: They're NOT.....Side-OUT!!!!

Watchfogel/Strick vs Loomis/Williams and Grotowski/Carumb. vs Hyden/Scott.... Fred and partner played 3-4 points for $5,000, against Scott/Hyden, but didn't score even with Fred serving into the wind...

I realize that CLWO has always had a different agenda. But you would think they could at least coordinate with BVBinfo to get results out there once or twice a day.
Hard to follow a sport/tour when you can't even find results 24 hours later.....

Interest in beach volleyball has seriously declined in the U.S. I attended the Corona Light Wide Open this past weekend in Siesta Key, Florida. On Saturday the beach was PACKED and many players competed on courts adjacent to the "pros". Some casual fans wandered over out of curiosity and the amateur players stuck around to party after they had been eliminated. Most of the rest of the beach goers were more interested in swimming and playing Frisbee. It looked like an average size crowd for a Bud Light pro-am tournament. On Sunday, the crowd there to watch volleyball was dismal. There were games being played for 5th place with 4-5 people watching. There were seats available all around center court the entire day. They even moved the sponsor tents close to the court because there was so much empty space that people weren't using. Some of the players appeared to be more interested in partying than winning money. Asking for beer at 10:30 in the morning, during the semifinals, which was your first match of the day? Players giving up and forfeiting because they were down in the second game of the winner's bracket final. Then players walking around with beer in hand IN BETWEEN points during the match to reach the finals. Many diehards had already left at this point and I joined them. If you have to set your beer down to serve, are people really going to respect you and follow your tour? I doubt it.

Sounds like an honest assessment. This is what happens when the "lifestyle" side of things is all that's left... no one outside of the participants are really going to be drawn to what sound similiar to a bunch of people drinking beer at a backyard party.

I was disappointed that the CLWO Siesta Key didn't take advantage of the Beach Volleyball Database (bvbinfo.com) to record their match results. Dr. Ono had the modules set up for them, but nothing was ever posted. I'm pretty sure all someone had to do was email, text or phone them in periodically like the AVP did (or at least at the end of the day). I wonder what the disconnect was... At least a few of the players sent out some FB updates to help fill the void.

Keep in mind that the NVL & CLWO are weekend events for semi-pros & amateur players this year. The only USA pros play on the FIVB tour.
Keep the faith. Next year is an Olympic year which may draw some attention to the indoor & beach volleyball games if the USA fields competitive teams.

Hyden and Scott can definitely be considered pro's, even though they are playing these events..

With the heat the way it was on Sunday and the ammount of matches that had to be played across 2 days, it's really no suprise that players were drinking beer. Many players do it to temporarily relieve cramping. It has always been done in our sports, even by the biggest names in beach volleyballs "hayday". Which is why there was 3 forfeits in the finals 6 games on the Men's side. Conceding games to save energy for the contenders bracket seemed like the right strategy to me...

I can understand why Rodrigo had to forfeit. He and Fred played 3-4 more matches than the others on Saturday. The other guys drinking beer were in their 1st and 2nd matches of the day on Sunday. True professional beach volleyball players don't cramp or drink beer in the morning, playing their 1st or 2nd match of the day.
