I dont know what u guys are talking about... Cervantes was the only one who passed well last night, made great sets out of the back row (tough ones too).. The outside position (besides kalima), is a huge need.. Schkud/ribiero/clar/vidinha need to step it up, once that happens the team will be complete.. Klinger/dante will be the middles, beckwith setting, cervantes at libero, kalima and 1 more at OH.. Need that OH to step up.. Cervantes isnt going to be alfy right off the bat, give the kid a chance.. I've only heard positive out of coach wilton about cervantes.. The thing that concerns me are brizuela and komar, i havent heard much about that, its gonna be hard to tell if they pan out.

Hence Aaronics comment " We all miss carrere and delgago".. Everyone is new, stop hating on everyone... Give everyone a chance

Kalima is not the answer on the left.

I like Kalima's energy. But I agree, he's not the answer on the left. My preference would be to see him in an active roll as D spec or even Libero. He's not going to get far tipping and roll shots against many of the teams they play. Hakala would help the team more at left getting more swings and his passing has improved since last year.

I agree with everyone, Kalima is not the answer to Hawaii's OH's needs. And, if he's the best they've got now, then Hawaii won't go far. The middles seem to be good, give Dante a few more weeks to get back into shape (he rested 2 months)..Klinger looks amazing (as a attacker), but needs help as a blocker.
I forgot about those international players....any news on when they'll be eligible?

i think dragon rawson will put up a good battle for that middle blocking position. regardless of what dante did last year, hawaii needs the best two players offensively in the middle. they need offense from SOMEWHERE and a good pass needs to get them automatic kills from the middle.
hakala should stay at opposite...i think. i dont think he can pass well enough to be an outside. we shouldnt put too much into his subpar performance last nite. hes a good opposite.
i dont think kalima is "the answer" for the left side, but he looks to be a more than adequate L2. now if hawaii could find a terminator on the left, someone to rely on to put up semi efficient attacking, then theyll be much better off. schkud had a real terrible nite. both passing and attacking. vidinha looks a little wide-eyed. ribeiro looks raw. unless schkud brings more, hawaii wont be in the top five with those kind of left side performances.
cervantes played fine. he didnt hurt the team. if he would take more control and leadership over the passing, hawaii's receive would be better.
hawaii looked bad last nite. but its soooooo early.

Cervantes is not alfy (yet, give him this year and he'll be there), he's going to be the libero.. be patient.. Kalima will be playing OH.. Middles/oppo/setter are set.. Just need that other OH position to fill in.. We'll see who steps up.. Thats the word.. UH will be fine, early in the season.. GO UH

And btw, the foreigners are eligible.. It has nothing to do with that, the other players are just better.. We'll see though

Not sure how subpar hakala's performance was, he still led all attackers with 14 kills and hit .300. The problem is that with passing more hitting suffers... Hawaii needs to find balance in passing, that's all. Everything else will fall into place.

What I think totally sucks is that the UH womens team really passed badly this season and so I was looking forward to our mens team because I thought that our passing would turn out to be far greater than the womens. I guess I was wrong...
