As usual, I was whining about the cold and rainy weather here in Seattle until the first day when it was actually nice and sunny (yesterday). Then I started whining about how outrageously hot it was (79-81 F). It was so hot I almost wanted to have my latte iced, rather than hot. I turned the air conditioning on in my car for the first time since last summer.

113 today in Phoenix . But it is a dry heat. I know you said that tongue-in-cheek, but I will take 113 degrees dry over 95 degress with humidity any day. We get a little muggy in August, with the temps are in the low 100's, but I am much more miserable in August than in June. Oh, and I got a new car a couple of months ago that has a cooling feature on the seats. Pretty sweet and it really helps! My garden has had it. No more fresh tomatoes for a while .

Today it was in the low 80's with 90% humidity. It was horrible.
Normally o wouldn't event put the AC on with those temps. But it was disgusting out. Couldn't walk outside without being covered in sweat.
Don't know about 113, but I do like a dry heat.

Anyone remember the Nestea plunge? Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

118 yesterday Fire at a transformer station caused a loss of power for about 3 hours on Friday in my neighborhood. Thank heavens the mall didn't lose power . I've experienced hotter temps than that. Not for more than a few minutes at a time though.

Not for more than a few minutes at a time though. Well, I just run from air conditioned house, to air conditioned car, to air conditioned store, etc, etc, so I really don't experience it for more than a few minutes at a time, either. Love the device on my new car that starts my car (and the AC) minutes before I get there. Genius. Oh, and the air conditioned seats! Got in my hubby's car the other day - temp inside said 133 degrees.

It's been reasonable in Chicago lately, although Friday and Saturday were scorchers.

Got in my hubby's car the other day - temp inside said 133 degrees. It was Death Valley in the summer on the trip with my folks that I documented here a few years ago. We got out and took a photo at the entrance sign. I also took a photo of the thermometer at the Furnace Creek Visitor Center. 124ºF in the shade. It was a little bit hotter (126ºF) at Badwater, but they didn't have a thermometer. We we hopping from air conditioned vehicle to air conditioned buildings. They sold Icees at the convenience store, which melted away in no time. My folks didn't even bother getting out of the car at Badwater. They just left the engine running with the A/C on. For some reason, summer isn't the peak visitation season. Except strangely enough for German tourists, may of whom have died trying to hike against all recommendations. Death Valley bones linked to German touristsCouple and 2 children vanished in 1996 after checking out of Vegas hotel www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33919797/ns/us_news-life/The people who found the remains did so in November when it cools down. They apparently set off on their adventure in July. During summer, it's idiotic to wander off any of the well traveled roads.

85 and sunny in Buffalo which when adjusted to Phoenix equals 211 degrees. ;D I guess the "official" term for the mammoth dust storm we had is a "haboob". Lived in AZ 50 of my 55 years and have never heard that word before. Now I try to use it 2-3 times a day. "This ice cream is haboobalicious". The word cracks me up.
