Hailey Pearce of Eastern Oregon University www.eousports.com/news/2011/7/19/WVB_0719110627.aspx?path=wvballYou will be greatly missed. Thank you for touching the lives of so many of us both within the game of volleyball and beyond. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family and loved ones. This is a horrible day for so many of us, but anyone who met Hailey knows most the time spent with her was spent laughing. I am so thankful I met her while she was here. We will never forget you

very, very sad. another reminder to those of us left behind to examine our priorities. in addition to her family and loved ones, let's keep the eou players, coaches, and community in our prayers throughout the season. they face a difficult time, a challenging season, but there is also the potential that they become stronger thru adversity...

Very sad. Another reminder of the supreme and random unfairness of life as we know it. Here's a story from the Billings Gazette: billingsgazette.com/sports/college/frontier-conference/rocky-mountain-college/article_4058ac1d-d254-59b6-8c57-e41360c8daa5.htmlI've driven that stretch of 395 near Ritzville, WA many times while driving my son to WSU. The speed limit, as I recall is 70 (which always seemed crazy to me) , but it's a two-lane road and you frequently come upon slow-moving farm vehicles. That's what happened to Hailey Pearce. An AP article said she was wearing a seat-belt, but apparently her airbag did NOT deploy. Just this week, I was moved by a post on Roger Ebert's blog of an essay by a writer in Brazil. It has nothing, directly to do with Hailey Pearce, but it's about the writer's feelings after reading an obituary. blogs.suntimes.com/ebert/being-here/-when-i-discovered-your.htmlMy deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Hailey Pearce. .

That's what happened to Hailey Pearce. 395 is a north-south four lane separated between directions like an interstate. The road between Tri-Cities and Spokane is waaay too busy to have a stretch that is only two lanes. If you were going to Pullman, you'd go over 395, but not on it. It is wheat harvest in that area and there are huge amounts of combines on the roads right now regardless, be careful for the next month on the Palouse if you go there.
