Yay! Have you made any decisions about the format? I really like the idea of having a "real" team where there's a set number of each position. The format this year seemed to lend itself too much to the all-around OH types.

Yes, the plan is to do an 8-person roster of 2 setters, 2 middles, 2 outside/rightsides, and 2 defensive specialists. Positions will just go by whatever they are listed on the school's website. Still 2 freshman on the roster at all times.

I'm thinking about adding hitting % and wining % to make 7 categories. Don't really feel like doing the extra work though.

Just mail me your $500 entry fee But in all seriousness, jlo basically dropped out of the league, so you can have his (her?) team next year. Reminder for everyone. You can keep as many (or as few) players as you want, but each player you keep costs you a draft pick. So if you keep one player, you forfeit your 1st-round pick. If you keep 3, you forfeit your 1st, 2nd, 3rd-round picks, etc.

We'll do keepers next year, to avoid people keeping players who transfer/get hurt/etc.
And it will be difficult for people to keep all of their players, considering about 50% of total rosters are seniors and the change in rosters (requiring two middles now) will require several outsides to be dropped.

Playoff 1st-round Results
shanem2005 (3) defeats mplssetter (2) Assists: 204 - 195 Kills: 155 - 183 Digs: 161 - 225 Blocks: 31.5 - 12 Aces: 24 - 14
What a close match. Florida beating UNI decided this contest. If UNI had pulled it out (or even gone to a 5th), mpls would have taken the assists. But a huge game from Jaekel (including all those aces), compensated for a slightly less-than-the-usual-incredible performance by Hancock who rang up a mere (for her) 4 aces over 3 matches. 47 kills and 49 digs from Croson and 52 kills and 42 digs from Hole were enough to pull those categories out, but 8.5 blocks a piece from Jaekel and Wopat controlled that category for shanem, who advances to the title game against...
bownlovingfreak (3) defeats uclakidd03 (2) Assists: 135 - 139 Kills: 108 - 69 Digs: 52 - 89 Blocks: 20.5 - 7.5 Aces: 6 - 4
Another extremely close match. Cook and Mathis squeak out the assist category for uclakidd, with Cook putting up 97 in just 2 matches. With big hitters Mead and Neto not in the tournament and Roledor only getting one match, balanced contributions from Dannemiller (14), Cash (20), Adams (26), Delano (19), and Arslanbekova (29) took that category for bown. Cook's 26 digs and Shaffer's 29 helped take that category, as both of bown's liberos missed the tourney. Cash and Adams helped secure the block category, and 5 aces from Dannemiller pulled out the win for bown.
The finals should be interesting, it comes down to Haley Eckerman for shanem2005, and Rachael Adams and Sam Cash for bownlovingfreak. I guess bownlovingfreak has to become a huge UCLA fan now. If Texas advances to the finals, Eckerman is almost certain to outproduce Adams. But if Texas falls, than that extra production from Cash might be enough to take the championship for bownlovingfreak.
This season I thought the Rose Division was significantly stronger, but it will be the two Dunning Division teams duking it out in the finals. Should be interesting.

Playoff Final Results!
Bownlovingfreak (3) defeats shanem2005 (2) Assists: 5 - 0 Kills: 36 - 29 Digs: 4 - 26 Blocks: 4.5 - 0.5 Aces: 0 - 1
And bownlovingfreak pulls off the upset!
I thought with Eckerman, Jaekel, and Unroe for shanem going up against Adams and Cash for bown, that shanem had the advantage. Obviously with Unroe and Jaekel, digs and aces were in the bag. And you figure the two middles would outblock the two outsides. What surprised me is that Adams had more kills than Eckerman, and Cash pretty much matched Jaekel.
The craziest thing is that this whole season was pretty much decided by Sam Cash somehow dishing out 5 assists.
Either way, congrats to both teams and to all the participants.
Bownlovingfreak earns the glorious prize of... getting last pick in next year's draft. And the eternal bragging rights of winning the 1st-annual Volleytalk Fantasy Volleyball League.
I'm already looking forward to next year's league!
