I know I'm not participating but once the "Teams" are assembled, how exactly does this work? I mean how do "teams" score better than everyone else (especially considering that they all don't play on the same team in real life)? If anything is based on stats I would advise those who are participating to not overlook some of the smaller conference schools. They usually have players who are very high nationally in the various statistics categories, and have good records to accompany them (because the play weak competition).

Team score is based on accumulated stats in five categories for all players on your team. At the beginning of the season, small conference players can help but will cost you come tournament time when their team does not make the field.

ay2013,
There's a detailed write-up of the rules on the first page, but the condensed version is:
Teams basically play head-to-head each week in 5 categories: kills, assists, digs, blocks, and aces. So say I'm playing hoosierdraft, and my team has more kills and digs, but he beats me in assists, blocks, and aces. He wins that week. Next week, we each play against somebody else.
Our "regular season" is 12 weeks long. At the end of that, the top 2 teams from each division go to the playoffs. The first round of our playoffs is the first 3 rounds of the NCAA tournament. So, it's not a bad idea to have one or two small-conference stars to help boost your stats in the regular season (especially if they are on teams that can win their conference and play one match in the NCAAs), but an overreliance on there will hurt you in the playoffs. So it's kind of a balance.

I updated all the picks on the 1st page. Third round is coming to a close with us just awaiting Stanlifornia's next pick. Remember the draft reverses order, so I need to get two picks. Then it goes back with rtael, shanem, WishIWasABaller, and so on.

So that everyone is up to speed and we can keep the proverbial ball rolling, I opted for..
Rd.3 14th pick: Hannah Werth, OH, Nebraska
And since the 4th round snakes right back around to me I'll go with..
Rd.4 1st pick: Caitlin Ledoux, OH, Long Beach

You can't have two 5-1 setters giving you assists right?

You can pick as many or as few setters as you want. Your players need to accumulate 50 assists in a week or you forfeit. But you could pick two 5-1 setters if you were so inclined. You would be trading assists for kills.

So Stanlifornia went with Werth and Ledoux. rtael with Morgan Spring, L, Ole Miss, shanem2005 dashed some people's hopes by nabbing Haley Eckerman, OH, Texas and WishIWasABaller grabbed Annie Luhrsen, S, Illinois.
Up next are jlo, uclakidd03, and hoosierdraft.

Here is a tip to win the kills category if you just want to win the “regular season” and not do anything in the playoffs. 6’3” OH Meagan Ganzer is the only senior for Washington State University. She was their dominant hitter last year. They brought in a transfer setter. If this setter is any good at all Ganzer’s total kills will be off the chart.
WSU has 11 new players and 6 returners. I don’t know how many games they will win, but Ganzer will probably get more than half the sets.

If y'all need a freshman, Madison Kingdon is a sure thing. She'll be playing 6 rotations and relied on as a key contributor next year, lit it up with the A2 team this summer, and Arizona is the type of team that goes 5-sets against both good and bad teams, giving plenty of opportunities to pad stats.
