Also, although NLI day just passed, as far as I know Murrey is the only Bear with expiring eligibility, so one could be a walk on.

As the article states, the Italian girl was on their Junior National team. The Croatian girl had dual citizenship; perhaps she gets to divide her age between the two countries

This is what one would expect from Cal to try to keep up competitively. Does anyone know if these new recruits are under age 30? I dunno, the Bears seem to have been pretty competitive recently. What's their recent record against Stanford, something like winning 4 of the last 5??

Seriously dude? Because Mia and Hana weren't the exact age as everyone else in their recruiting classes... both girls are 17.

One of the other VTalk contributors mentioned once that the VTalker had discussed Mia with a ref, presumably an up ref, who said some very complimentary things about Jerkov being the best seen from the back row, or something like that. I thought that memorable because a) you don't hear evaluations from refs and b) a very interesting perspective. Moi. The ref was Kent Kitade. It was a men's club tournament at UC Davis i was watching, and I was talking about Mia with a friend. Most of the top refs work at every level including D-I to D-III to men's club. I don't think he said anything about her that was unusual. I don't normally hang around refs, but everyone was just eating lunch during a break. I don't think it was anything all that unusual. I understand that a lot of refs might express their opinions about the talent of certain players, but who the heck would normally get to hear it? After Stanford at Cal in 2004, I saw a bunch of refs chatting it up outside of Haas Pavilion, and most of them didn't even work the match. I recognized John Kinyon, who worked the match, along with Kent Kitade who didn't work the match. I've seen refs I know of watching even if they didn't have any official duties (i.e. reffing, lines, scorekeeping, evaluations). They're often fans of the game when they not working. I need to do something about this insomnia......
