Buddy, that was a HORRIBLE passing team. The only reason they were good was the team settled in after all the injuries by the time the WAC was done AND Kamanao could make any pass a beautiful set. Mason, Houston, Lee and Duggins for three rotations was the passing core, and let me tell you in was SHANK central that year. It has been a few years since I have posted, but this Hawaii team has got me to come out of the woodwork again. There is definitely something special about this team but what worries me most is not Jupiter, but Hawaii itself. Someone in a thread earlier posted a clip of Hawaii beating USC with Kanoe's amazing run in that 5th set. What stood out the most to me was Hawaii's passing was light-years better then than now. Hawaii's best passer is obviously Kanani, but every team knows not to serve to her. If Hawaii can pass on average of a 2.5 or so, then the chances of Hawaii winning esp with the HCA will be great. Go Bows! Agreed, having a great setter can make any pass look decent...Kanoe was the reason lots of passes didn't look that bad... But in 2006 the Wahine didn't really have any solid passing!

Still, 2006 was fun. Especially because of the emotion that Mason, Sanders, Houston, Gregory and Kaufman displayed as someone mentioned. Loved how they eyed out players across the net and celebrated after every point, rarely has a Hawaii team been that "mean".
Another thing that helped was Mason was 6'3 and Houston was 6'2 and both could terminate the high set from Kamanao. Sanders and Gregory combined were arguably Hawaiis best blocking duo that year too.
It really was a fun year, ANYWHO - time to get back to USC this Friday. Haha.

well in game 5 they really didn't pass much due to all the USC errors and Hawaii blocks to be honest. Hawaii 2009 is IMO the best passing team I've seen this decade hmmmm nah.... 2003 USC, 2008 Nebraska, 2005 Washington, perhaps even Penn State 2008/2009 were better passing teams for sure. But the 2009 passing rotation for Hawaii sure was a good one.

We've talked about Hawai'i trying to stop USC but haven't talked about USC trying to stop Hawai'i. USC, although bigger than the Bows, is not a better blocking team. How is SC going to deal with all of the options at Mita's disposal? And how will Hawaii deal with all the options Kendall has in her disposal ?? Hawaii does not have the same options in offense as USC. Danielson and Croson gets the bulk of the sets, with a little bit of Hewitt and Hartong. USC as of late has been very middle oriented, every good pass they run the middle. Blocking will be where Hawaii wins this match If it comes to that, blocking will be where Hawai'i LOSES this match. Hawai'i cannot afford to let this game become a blocking battle. This match will be all about passing and transition defense.

Though PSU '08 had some good servers too.

OH Hawaii fans... the match hasn't even started and there are already 5 pages of "analysis" and "historical data" I have to cipher through. :-P HaHaHa! 7 now and it's still 2 days 'til game time. Could this be because it's the biggest match of the year

My wife says men who leave the toilet seat up and don't close the bowl before flushing are sh*theads. She also told me to crack the bathroom window. Speaking of toilet seat. Yesterday morning the toilet seat was so cold that I forgot why I was sitting there. LOL! Too Funny, m
