Volleyball Jim is dominant on this one, and it's all valid, especially 96....look people, it's basic courtesy to follow this one and not screw folks over waiting....do you know the way to San Jose?

g-8-FL: Yeah that one is rough: I was the culprit sitting on court 4 at Main waiting to get into the next game (I did NOT belong there, waiting for THAT game, but that aside, just give me a hint theres no subsequent game and I'm gone; like any other "sensitive" wanna-be player).... Oh well, onto #93: Silence may be golden but its got to cost us B players 2-4 points a game....ESPECIALLY the "Out" call. I crack up when players who don't regularly call close balls in or out give it a try under pressure: They fold like the proverbial house of cards....If you don't call close balls in or out, you're not going to get good at it & its embarrassing to watch how erratic some B-A players are doing with those calls....IN-IN-IN !!!!!

Not much on VT besides schedules etc., so here goes #92: If you're consistently wrong with the score AND your error is usually beneficial to YOUR team, you might want to start ASKING what the score is rather than PROMPTING your "version" of what you think it is.....Just say'n.....

That one.. well, a lot of these actually, mostly apply to playing acquaintances... if you're playing friends, then it's your righteous duty to point-shave. Especially if they are slightly better than you, and you happen to be ahead at the moment.
Not that I'd serially do this, of course. Volley.

#92: If you're playing in "wet circumstances" (read: Santa Cruz, TODAY), you TOSS the ball to people....you don't ROLL the ball THROUGH THE WET SAND so it gets encrusted with MORE SAND so nobody can handle the ball.....Just say'n....

It's not really "raining"... it's just a passing squall. VOLLEY.

So here's #91: If you're taking too long to serve, CUT IT OUT!!!! Look, we're not at the 18 tee at Pebble Beach with the Open on the line, we're "...just trying to get along". There is a certain flow with play: You call the score, toss the ball and viola! If you're one who "hangs around" prior to serving, see if your fellow players like maintaining their serve-receive position while you "decide" when to start the rally (ANSWER: They DON'T). Again, just say'n.....

....its all about ME....Well, not really: #90 - So you're getting ready to receive serve & you HOLD YOUR ARM UP IN THE "...I'm not ready yet" position......really? What are you getting ready for? Getting the sand at that 45 degree angle for your feet? Anticipating that serve so you can move center? Thinking of a motivational speech to quickly give your partner? Yes, I didn't think so.....Just get set & let the server SERVE THE BALL......If you were THAT good, you wouldn't be receiving the serve from HIM/HER!!!! LOL....anyway....

OK, now we're into the 80's, so #89: What do you say when the score is (any number to 0) eg. 8-0? Well, its indicative of your personality and sez a LOT: Eight ZIP - Quit and go home; You're REALLY rubbing it in Eight ZERO - Would you REALLY use a 2 syllabub word to indicate ZIP? I didn't think so... Eight OH - Soft version of ZERO, you're getting there... Eight - NOW you're getting it.....EVERYBODY knows its a shutout!!!
...its just bein' nice...

#88: If people are leaving instead of playing with you or you are finding yourself down 8-0, maybe you should head over to the "work up" court or find someone at your skill level.

#87 - An out call is JUST an out call. No more, no less (well, unless you call OUT-OUT-OUT!!!!). No major “look” or comments to your partner about the call, K? I mean, you’ve been playing HOW MANY YEARS and you don’t have the spatial sense of IN/OUT? 1/2 the time you have a better view than your partner, so get with it and live with his/her call and get BETTER at it. Do you REALLY think you can make 2 or 3 calls a game and have a good "out call" sense? Gets a "little OLD" watching guys make digs 1-2' out of bounds...

#86: Serve LINE!!!! When your partner calls to serve line/angle, don’t give him the call “got it” when you can’t direct a serve to a specific area of the court. Just let him/her know you cannot hit a ball to a specific location and after the game, go find out why.....LOL..... You're behind by 8 points and you're STILL serving the A rated 6' 3" player in lieu of the "other guy" (that's usually me!)....I see myself beating teams and they're STILL serving my partner who's been passing Nails all day whereas I'm always good for a shank or two at any time.....

VBJim, your group sounds like they suck to play with. rule #10 don't let other people's actions on the court affect your game. (best learned playing against Camacho)
