What I was implying is there were four people not springing out of nowhere, but with actual first hand experience that felt so strongly about the topic they needed to speak out. 2 of those posters have said they had Coley as a coach. The other two seem to know about team dynamics in a way that fans would probably not. That gives their comments a certain amount of weight that may not reside in other comments. Granted, in this situation a person can claim just about anything. I also do not remember seeing anyone else with similar familiarity having contradictory opinions chime in here. people say alot of things on here. Them saying they played for Coley doesnt mean they did. I strongly encourage you to not believe everything you read on here

My 2 cents... I know all of the parties involved (except LW). I do know several other girls on the team very well though. I had heard last year that LW was interested in transferring but didn't because she liked Coley so much. This is not uncommon, they have a long history together and Coley is very close with some of the players. The move by Waite is not out of line, he picked up a couple of up and coming coaches. I do not believe for a second that there was a deal that Coley would get the job if LW came. Let's all be honest she is a very good player but not so good that you hire two new assistants to get her. Coley and Dan got the job based on there merit not based on LW (even though she may have had a lot to do with their merit). So when Coley said she was leaving and you know she told several players well before Ray told them, LW and a few of the other girls immediately said they wanted out too. Ray is a great coach, I have stolen many of my own coaching techniques from him. But like most great coaches his style does not appeal to everyone (do you think RR's style would appeal to everyone) and those that did not care for the style have decided to depart. The only really negative thing that I have heard from the players is some of the things that Coley said to the team before she departed. Ray deserved better then that. Ray will rebound from this, not sure he will ever get back to RPI 17 but he will rebound and rebuild.

Most sensible post in this thread so far? Now, about the grace with which Wisconsin is making room for newcomers....

That is the beauty of these forums; people can post what they know about a topic or situation, and others can choose to believe what they want.

So can anybody that is familiar with the coaching abilities of the dynamic duo, tell me if they think that this hire helps address the low level of blocking the program has shown over the last few years?

I just asked one of the NIU players who said Dan might and Coley would try, but she is mostly DS.

NIU is not even considered a great program, sorry but they are nowhere near the level of the great programs in the country. Secondly, all this talk about coaches that are basically "nobodies" in the volleyball world it just dumb to me. Get over it....a lot of us don't care!!!

While I agree with you about these coaches, you seem to care enough to click on this link. Next time maybe you should try to avoid links you don't care about.

You've cared enough to already post a number of times on this subject so... And I'm sure these coaches appreciate being referred to as nobodies. Classy.
