well now wait a minute. here are two things you've said to me in the last day: now, do you legitimately think i might be slow. i highly doubt that, since i write well (i'm not saying that to brag - it's just something i've always been good at). do you legitimately think that i am racist? i note that you've never attacked elevation for being racist or slow, even though he outright hates the obamas, and he is, by just about any measure, probably the dumbest poster on volleytalk. so next time before you ask me if i'm racist or slow, you should maybe consider that you're just saying that because you disagree with me politically. My reference to asking you if you were racist is that you insinuated when responding to my post that white conservatives were racist. You know what in reference that was too Truffle. Lets not try to throw the ball over there to distract the dog over here. You are smarter than that. Your last paragraph exemplifies what I am saying in response to Ruffs comments. I feel the need to defend elevation just by the sheer rudeness in which he is treated. Dumbest poster on Volleytalk? Who says that about someone else on a public forum? thank you, but no need to defend. posters like Ruff think this board is their domain, so they feel comfortable with the personal name calling even though it's specifically outlined as a no no. But no matter, Ruff only reveals himself as the lowest common denominator - the weakest link!

I have little tolerance for bigotry. Sorry, I just don't.

This is the other thing. Probably the main thing. elevation brings NOTHING to this forum. He cannot debate the threads he brings up and he cannot engage in useful debate in anyone else's threads.
Does this make any sense to ANYONE? I say I have no tolerance for bigotry and he posts a picture and makes a comment about how I'm a know-it-all. Where is the relevance?

Your consistent trait is that you think you know more than anyone else. It's your weakness.

Hey, that's fine if that's what you think. But my comment about having little tolerance for bigotry has nothing to do with that.
That's not even close to what I actually think, btw. Or my real weaknesses. But thanks for the feedback.

Is this addressed to me? The person who's been called a "know-it-all"?
Just take a look at how this thread, which I started, deteriorated -- and show me how I am to blame for it.

I think this thread finally has some balance in opinions and thoughts. Step up to the plate and defend your opinion. Argue about the points and lets leave the name calling to the kids.

My Mom always said that when you get personal and resort to name calling, you have lost the debate. like asking someone if they're slow? Sometimes Truffle...for such an obviously intelligent person, I don't think you seriously consider what the opposition to your opinion has said. I shouldn't have asked if you are slow and you shouldn't be referring to elevation as a moron or stupid. Lets get this debate back on a grown up level.

You two are too funny, although I'll admit I did use "The Right". Here's where it turned off topic, however:
"What does bother me a great deal, and I have noticed in on this board often, is that anyone that has a somewhat conservative opinion or is critical of the Obama administration is often labeled racist. That really makes me irritated. Our forefathers fought for each of us to have the right to express our political opinion. Branding someone racist just because they have a contradictory opinion to your own is cowardly and low."
It had nothing to do with what the thread was about. I tried to address it, however, and elevation decided to go further off topic.
And now holiday says "Step up to the plate and defend your opinion. Argue about the points and lets leave the name calling to the kids."
Like the guy who sets a house on fire and then says "Can we get back to our picnic?"

I would love to get back to Critical Race Theory and whether this is 1) a valid theory and 2) the evil Breitbart's Boys are claiming it to be.

We could start here (although I'm really curious about how many people actually read the article):
Just as talking about income inequality can get you branded as a socialist by the right today, talking about racial inequality on a systemic level can lead to charges of reverse racism against whites. And the ultimate irony of having a black president is that it may make it harder for him to discuss race. The killing of Trayvon Martin has sparked national outrage and a heated debate over race, but the White House responded timidly. “Obviously, we’re not going to wade into a local law enforcement matter,” White House spokesperson Jay Carney said Monday. But that policy didn’t apply to Henry Louis Gates’ run-in with Cambridge police just three years ago. Obama publicly condemned the police in the case, and was pilloried by the right for it.
Stefancic said Martin’s case is a perfect example of the importance of critical race theory. Without a racial lens on the incident, it would be a narrow legal question about Florida’s “stand your ground” self-defense laws. But critical race theory allows us to see the whole picture that a strictly colorblind analysis might miss, she said. “When the law tries to redress an action that comes from a certain stereotype, it’s difficult,” she explained.
