I heard at the UCI Spring Tournament that Priscilla Duke-Ezeji (OH) and Madie Smith (DS/L) are no longer on the team.
Can anyone confirm this?
Thanks.

Madie was going to find it hard to get playing time behind Kelly, Bo, and Meg in the back.
Priscilla can smash the ball but with Kidder, Love, Lowe, Reeves, Todorovic, Lawless, Klineman coming in im sure it will be hard for her to find time on the court as well.
not saying these are thee exact reasons but just looking at the situation for what it is. they are some funny young ladies i can say that watching them on the bench during games they find a way to laugh and have a smile. I wish them luck if they decide to transfer out.

Madie Smith was a walk-on and probably always knew she wasn't going to get tons of playing time anyway. She got to be on the team for 2 years, got to win a National Championship, and maybe she just figured it was time to be a "regular" college student and spend her time on things that will prepare her for life after graduation. I have no inside info but I'm pretty sure she wouldn't transfer somewhere else for volleyball reasons. She's got a long family history of UCLA grads and I'm sure she's intent on getting her degree. As far as Priscilla, I think she was on scholarship, so if she's going to not be on the team, I'm assuming she'd transfer. She got a pretty good amount of playing time as a freshman, but maybe she figured that with a bunch of taller girls coming in at her position in the next year, she should look elsewhere. Whatever they end up doing, I wish both of them the best. I had very brief interactions with the two of them at various times and they both seemed really cool.

It will be sad to see Priscilla go. She played great during a few of the Bruins matches last season. I think if she were to stick it out one more season, she would be starting after Kidder and Love graduate. Best of luck to her wherever she ends up!

How hard is it to walk on at UCLA? Must a player be invited to try out, or are there dozens of kids trying out? Know a kid who's pretty good, recruited by lower level D1 schools but really likes UCLA and money is not an issue...

During the championship game and the Florida state game Madie and Jenna were not on the bench they were in the stands with the UCLA fans. They only joined their team for the last few points you can see them in the replay standing in the back prior to winning the ship.
Good luck to Ezeji in Alabama the girl is a character and can smash good luck.
Last year sealy did the same thing slimming the roster during spring that's when Allie, Kim, Angelica, and Ketter (Mari transfered) were off the squad as well as Nicole a transfer from UCSB last year became the manager this year.

I know that was the case for the two playoff games at the Wooden Center, and I'm assuming it was the same for the two games in Lexington as well. I'm sure there's a NCAA rule about how many players can be dressed for the game. You probably also noticed that Nikki Casale was not dressed but was on the bench as a "manager." Since she was a senior, I'm sure Sealy gave her that honor over the two sophomores who were in the stands.
