So I go to the USC ticket office site, to a specific site set up for a club to get a discount. The price of the ticket is fine, but then it adds $2.50 per ticket for a handling fee. Then when you go to check out, it has added another $5 for a "delivery fee." YOU pick them up at Will Call. Where's the delivery? Do they think they are an airline? How much to bring in my carry ons? This added fee business is worse than ATM bank charges. And just as I'm typing in my credit card info, after going through the registration process, the whole site goes blank saying my "time has expired." When I try to re-do it, the site does not come back on line. Nice. Your location says Los Angeles, shouldn't you already expect this from USC? Seriously though. Imagine being a student here WITHOUT parents who pay for everything. It's a small minority, but we feel your pain every single day. Because it's not just USC, many off campus places are known for ripping off USC students. One even known for stealing bikes from students and reselling them. But then again, students are in free tonight so I shouldn't complain!

As I was leaving during game 1 of the Lewis-USC match, they were charging $20. Fight on U$C!

I didn't feel like hanging out near USC past 10 o'clock to watch a second match. Another venue might have been a different story, but even with Galen on a safe side of USC, it seemed like a good idea to hit the exits around 8.

Real fans would stay for the 5-setters during the sideout era at North Gym, then go eat across the street from campus at the Burger King at 11pm.

I can't believe people aren't even okay with being across the street from USC! Especially when there is a big event with people around. DPS (Public Safety) was out and around Galen Center. People are usually fine walking on Figueroa.

Who were the 4 students held up? Frat boys and sorority girls. It was at 28th/Figueroa. 28TH st is the row and is where there is the most security and DPS patrols. You're right , the suspect was a gang member from Compton who shouldn't have even been near USC. The surrounding community actually has a lot of respect for USC. A lot of employees live in the surrounding area and many others have some affiliation with the school through programs. At the time the students were robbed Campus Cruiser was open. If you feel unsafe, you don't have to walk. How many people that actually talk about USC have actually lived here and got to understand the neighborhood? Very few. Yes, it is sad the Chinese students were killed but USC provides a very safe campus itself. There is rarely ever any ON-CAMPUS crime besides theft (every college). The Chinese students were murdered by Raymond and 27th. If you go to the USC area, you know this isn't really where many USC students live.. it is more mixed. If you use common sense and realize you are not on the Pacific Ocean you should be fine. Tragedies happen and you can't control them and I'm not sure who can explain them. I'm still shaken by the murders because I've been in that area before and felt fine. My message to all potential USC students / student athletes is if you're that worried over it after visiting, don't come to USC. There are plenty of athletic and academically capable students willing to take your spot. Being a part of the Trojan Family is a special thing and people don't realize it until you're a part of it and you live it. Once you're in, you're in. I love it here. [/end rant]

Bad deal at USC but they have already responded by having LAPD assign a full time detective and 4 police officers to specifically patrol USC and its environs. Southern Cal is picking up the bill.
