According to someone who claims to have talked to her, Sokolova is tired. It may be the reason she did not play well in the finals match. When I first heard that Sokolova is "tired", I wondered if she didn't mean physically as much as emotionally/mentally. There is obviously something off in Russia's team dynamics and it may just be as big a factor in her decision as much as physical fatigue. The question that is on my mind now is whether Sokolova will go to the Olympics IF Russia qualifies for London.

Mari didn't make the active roster for the CSV Olympics qulification tournament. She's out of shape right now and Natalia is injured. Brazil play this tournament with only three OHs.

About a month ago I stated on this board that Mari will never get back to her top form circa 2008, and was accosted for doing so.

Mari is just a shell of the player she was in the 2008 Olympic Games. At the World Grand Prix, she did not look good. I think Natalia and Fernanda Garay Rodrigues are ahead of her at this point.

Both Mari and Shelia games went down when they parted ways. Obviously Shelia is still legit, but she isn't what she once was, or perhaps it was Fafao that made her great?

Hahah there was a great exchange on Volleytalk last Fall: "Why did Ze put Mari in for Garay, she's terrible?" "Oh I see, it was to make Sheilla play better"

Ok can we clear this up, were Sheilla and Mari dating, or just very good friends? I was always under the impression that they were dating, but never heard anything official. Sheilla is now dating a man it appears.

Sheila and Mari <3
If Japan doesn't qualify I will be utterly shocked. They looked strong at the World Cup riding on the back of the side out, tool master Saori, the little engine that could Take%*$#a and the crafty Araki.

Re Brazil: is Fabiana injured? Watching Brazil throughout their qualifier I was not surprised to see Fe Garay on the left over Paula P, but I was very surprised to see Adenizia over Fabiana in the middle. Also, Thaisa looks great on offense. Maybe its because her and Fabiola had the whole pro season to work it out but their connection looks really good right now.

Re Brazil: is Fabiana injured? Fabiana is rumored to have a minor injury. Don't know what it is exactly but aparently not something that should keep her out of the Olympics. Also, Adenizia had a strong season in Brazil and is in form so her getting playing time makes sense.
