The three middle offense is lame. If you want to impress me, run the five setter offense. I prefer the L + 5OH offense. Who needs a setter? ;D

Been round for a long time. I first saw the system used by Illinois at the 1988 Final Four in Indianapolis. Mary Egger, Nancy Brookhart and Laura Bush were the "middles". I never understood why this is called a 3-middle system. Why can't it be called the 3-OH system, or the 3-OPP system. You need a bunch of players that fit the following description: good high ball hitters who can also hit quick...or, good quick hitters who can also hit high balls. Some disadvantages of the system:
1. Back row alignments are different in every rotation. No symmetry in the line up. 2. Passing; unless everyone can pass with ability 3. Libero usage tricky 4. Claims of superior style of offense, no defense can track it, exaggerated
Rock on.....

. I never understood why this is called a 3-middle system. Why can't it be called the 3-OH system, or the 3-OPP system. Because when you look at the variations in the 3M offense, not all the "Middles" play opposite or outside, but they do all play middle. e.g. -M1 plays 3 rot M -M2 plays 2 rot M, 1 rot Right -M3 plays 1 rot M, 2 rot Left So, M2 does not play any left and M3 does not play any right, so those names would not apply. You could have systems that could be classified as 3OH, or 3opp; but 3M defines what the group of systems we're talking about here.
