Gonna post this here just for fun. Here are the early season betting odds to win GOLD in London: Women Brazil | 2.25 | Russia | 3.75 | USA | 4.75 | Italy | 10.00 | Serbia | 21.00 | China | 26.00 | Turkey | 26.00 | Japan | 51.00 | Dominicana | 201.00 | South Korea | 201.00 | Great Britain | 2,001.00 | Algeria | 2,001.00 |
Men Brazil | 2.00 | Russia | 3.25 | Italy | 10.00 | Poland | 11.00 | USA | 17.00 | Bulgaria | 21.00 | Serbia | 21.00 | Argentina | 51.00 | Germany | 151.00 | Tunisia | 501.00 | Australia | 501.00 | Great Britain | 1,001.00 |
I'm surprised with the odds for some teams. Certainly presents an opportunity to earn a few bucks for those who makes wise picks.

Russia not favored? Oh boy. A lot of people are going to lose money on Brazil this year.

Wow, at those odds I'm tempted. Let our USA athletes turn my $300 into $1,100? Sounds like a bargain.

China and US women are the bargain bets here. I agree. I think China might be the biggest threat to anyone.

China has some injuries as well... Looking at the rosters right now, and barring no injuries or major changes, Team USA looks to be the strongest. I see the rest, especially in the group of death, as being able to beat each other... My pick would be the US followed by Italy at this point as the strongest teams..

i hope.. it will be almost a replay of 2004 athens olympics for my team(i dream we can clinch the gold)..
like in athens my team was out of the medal prediction and yet we beat all the odds to make it into the final...

Ok, so if we look at Pool B again:
USA. Brazil: Our A team defeated them in 4 sets in Brazil, our B team defeated them in 5 in Ningbo, however this is still a team made up of world class players at each position, with a deep bench. China: Yimei is still a huge question mark...I have a hard time believing she'll be 100% by London. Their quick offense and great passing gives the US fits. Serbia: Injured. Not at top form as they were in last years WGP. Turkey: Really nice team. Darnel is their scorer, with lots of others contributing, really excited just to be at the games. Turkey is dangerous. Korea: One-woman team. Kim can't beat the US by herself.

In a recent interview, Russia's coach said that Kosheleva will probably not go to London due to her injuries.
