Any chance that this will be recorded/streamed live? Nope. Hugh doesn't allow for even pictures to be taken.. especially now so close to the Olympics..

Since it's a 3-match challenge series, I wonder if the teams will experiment with lineups early then go full strength in the last match.
I'm curious what lineup Bulgaria will use -- specifically when Yaneva and Nikolova are not there.
Or maybe they will go with Vasileva at Opposite and Rabadzhieva-Karakasheva combo at OH. They'd have to pass well to take advantage of Strashi Filipova at middle. She is really fun to watch.
Side note: Bulgaria is coming off a successful Euro League where they qualified for the 2013 Grand Prix, beating Serbia on the way to the finals. (Add: A very tired looking Serbian team, but still a win for Bulgaria)

I think Hugh is using this for last minute adjustments, working through problems he noticed at WGP, and maybe even putting new looks into a competition situation. I'm sure we'll see more variation the first two matches.

Hugh may throw some things in and then not use them at the Olympics.

Well I hope they have been working on Berg's connection with Foluke, Hooker, etc. The first two legs of the WGP was not the best.

I wonder how much Ovchinnikov has promised to pay the Bulgarian coach for a full scouting report and/or hidden camera recording of the match... ;D

Over and Under that is why he may put some thing in and then not use it at the Olympics. It does not hurt getting them thinking one thing and then do another.

Russia is not in our pool, there is no guarantee of playing them in London. Hugh is not going to waste time faking game plans in order to throw off a team they might not even face in London. They're are using these matches to clean up their game v. competition outside of their gym.

Do you not think there maybe scouts from other teams? I would not be surprised to see the same thing we have watched over the last few years.

Another fun fact, Bulgaria's coach was Lindsey Berg's club coach for the past few years in Villa Cortese.
I expect the USA service to easily disrupt the weak Bulgarian passing formation. Vasileva will get her kills but with the way the US is playing defense I anticipate she won't hit for a very good number. Rabadzhieva is up and down but if she passes and hits well it could be more competitive. Agree with Marsh Filipova is a fun player to watch. She's a big girl 6'4''-6'5'' takes up a lot of space on the block and hits the slide very well.
Great team to get ready for the OG. I can't even remember the last time they've played and it will give the USA a chance to adapt to totally different players and style.

Foreign teams don't need any scouting from these scrimmages. They have plenty of in-game video from the past few seasons to draw on. It's not like Hugh chucked the playbook and came up with something completely different.
