What are your favorite in game crowd contests that you like to see in between sets two and three? PEACE Nothing. I come to watch a volleyball match, not to see 300 people line up for a serving contest where only 50 will get a chance to serve (and most of them can't even get it over the net.) Of course, it does make the lines at the concession stand shorter.

Dance contests, and sumo in those inflatable suits.

With the lack of entertainment at Florida the past two years, I'd be happy with any contest. I used to like musical chairs the sling-shot burrito catching, but I guess whoever organizes these things can't find sponsors and the program doesn't want to cough up the prize money itself. By the way, now that audience dance contests are shown on the big screens, I had no idea just how badly young children lack rhythm. Seriously, most of them are worse than Elaine Benes.

Burrito slinging was fun...setting contests, not so much. Also, I still cringe every time I hear the phrase "shut the box" after my mishap in Omaha. A lot of the UAA marketing and promotions people from years ago aren't around anymore which really has lessened the quality and quantity. Also, based on what I've seen, they've put more of a focus on getting more students to come to the event then keeping them there (ex: having more raffles and prizes for people who brought the largest group of friends/dorm-mates, instead of intermission contests).

I always like the tricycle race where you put on over-sized clothes after each length of the court.

Jimbo, dance contests are always fun. Pick 6 people, play a song, let them have a dance off with the crowd picking the winner. This would provide a lot of fun and entertainment for pretty much every program, well, except Nebraska....wouldn't work there.

You could hire Thrill to sit courtside with all his props. Thrill was sooooo entertaining back in his Wise Guys Days.

well thanks for the input...just wanted to see how we could enhance our game day experience for the fans. PEACE Glad to see someone seeking input to improve fan experience. Here's some things I have seen. Musical chairs: As liquidrunning stated, this was always enjoyable. I shouldn't have to explain this as I'm sure most people understand the concept of the game. Using inflatable chairs is a good idea because they are inexpensive and safer than using real seats. Dance-offs: Can either be one song or clips from a few different songs, crowd applause choose the winner. Serving contests: Line of people on one side of the net, and placards of prizes on the other side. If someone hits a prize with the serve they win it. Races: Usually involving putting on over-sized clothing (some schools do it with little kids and have them put on the full uniform piece by piece). Team catching activity: There is a team member on each side of the net. One teammate either throws, slingshots, or serves an object across the net and their partner has to catch it. The team that gets the most catches wins. Sponsor-specific task: Centered around who the sponsor of the promotion is. Examples include wrapping Runza sandwiches and a variation of the "team catching activity" I previously mentioned with sling-shooting burritos for Chipotle. Costume contest: Primarily for Halloween. Trivia: Can be 1 or more questions about the team's history. This is probably my least favorite as its not very exciting and its embarrassing for people who may be newer fan.

Oh, just remembered two others: Memory: Placards of different words or pictures are placed upside down. Contestants take turns trying to flip over a pair of the same word pr picture. Person with the most correct wins. I've also seen an alternative where its just one person with a time limit and the cards are prizes. For every pair of prizes they match within the time limit, they receive that prize. Blindfolded ball finder: A contestant wears a blindfold and knee pads. They crawl around during a allotted amount of time trying to find mini volleyballs (the volleyballs are worth different monetary amounts based on their color and one color is usually negative moneyand put them in their bag). After the buzzer, one by one the balls are removed from the bag and the sum of money won is counted. A variation sometimes used is instead of having a negative ball color, that ball stops the counting and the person only wins the amount counted up to that point...I've also seen it where that ball makes the merpson go bankrupt but they have the ability to walk away before each ball is pulled from the bag.
BTW, I'm not saying any of these are the best or worst, I'm just trying to recall things I've seen so that you have a plethora of ideas to think about and adapt to what you think would benefit what you are trying to accomplish.
