I like Pulliza this year, but Mary has done a great job.

That's a good pick, especially if Arkansas makes the tourney.

As I mentioned in the linked piece, I went with McVey because the coaches have almost exclusively just handed the award to the person who was tops in digs each year. Not saying I agree or not, but if I'm trying to predict what they're going to do I think a lot will just pull up that stat and fill in the ballot. And that is what bothers me about that particular award.

I have a question for James and Thrill. At the start of this thread, you discussed the unbalanced schedule in the SEC this year. I am wondering how that has played out to impact the RPI. It seems to me that teams like Tennesse may be penalized in RPI because they played Mississippi St. twice while TAMU only played them once. Earlier in the season when TAMU beat South Carolina and Mississippi St. on th same weekend, TAMU's RPI went down. Clearly Mississippi St. is a huge drag on RPI.
On the plus side of the equation, Florida only played 4 matches against Tennessee, TAMU, and Arkansas. (only once eaxch against the other best two records Tennessee and TAMU)Kentucky played 6 in that same group. The weekend TAMU lost to Tennessee and Florida, TAMU's RPI went up.
Mississipppi St. could have more to do with who hosts than a lot of other variables.

I really like where the SEC is right now. We could potentially get five teams in the tournament tonight and believe that from top to bottom, the conference is better. With the sad exception of Mississippi State (curious to know what happens there in the off season), but the traditionally bad teams had good seasons. Alabama knocked off some people as did Georgia who is much much improved. South Carolina had a winning season for only the second time in 10 years (wow) and knocked off Arkansas in the process. Auburn was on the bubble until this past weekend. Ole' Miss has some young talent that could knock off some teams next year. It's very exciting to see how much more competitive our conference will be next year!
POY: Mann LOY: Klefot FOY: Recek COY: Pulliza/Corbelli (could go either way - both much deserved)

I like Klefot as a libero but her stats aren't up there. McVey definitely had a good weekend to put her on top and she is a good libero. Summers from GA has had a good year. Over 500 overall and close to 400 in conference. Tough call. Probably will go to a player who has been around for awhile.

Klefot won it the past two years and she's just barely in the top 10 in digs this season. Can't see them giving her a 3rd award with those numbers when there are several above her that had better seasons and haven't won the award yet. I might be slightly biased but if we're not going with the one of the top 3 in digs then I'd go with UT's Ellen Mullins who has killed it in the last half of the season.

McVey stats are all over 500. Mullins and Unroe maybe a little lower but they come from two good schools of blocking and hitting. Im going for McVey True freshman will be fun to watch her over the next few years. You know what impresses me, are the girls like Bullock who play all six rotations and dig up a lot of balls. Recek adefinate for Freshman of the year. She is impressive and fun to watch. POY too many to choose from. Mary for Coach of the year or Texas AM's coach.

Clarify for me how a Libero of the year could come from a team that is: - last in opponent hitting % - last in opponent kills/set - last in blocking - last in assists - last in hitting % - last in wins - 4th in digs/set Is it not obvious to y'all that this kid is getting tons of balls hit at her and no one fears serving at her? Analyzing these stats has lead me to believe that the Libero with the most overall impact this year is Mullins from UT. Her team is good on offense, good at blocking, and she still scoops over 4 and a half per set. And it's a close call with Unroe seeing as she is also giving an ace every three sets.

I'm not disputing your logic. But if the question is "who are the coaches going to pick", I'm going with their history. 90% of the time they give it to the digs leader.

Only surprises for me, De-De Harrison (Tenn) didn't make any team and I thought Sierra Wilson (Ala) would of made the all freshman team.
