Obviously they did not do much homework by putting James Shaw on honorable mention.

Obviously they did not do much homework by putting James Shaw on honorable mention. I thought the exact same thing. He was on the cover of USAV magazine, seems kind of silly for them to forget about him.

St. Francis finished 12th in the country according to ESPN, and won their section, which is as far as a NorCal team can go. He's going to Stanford and his club team got Bronze in 18 open at JNs. I second your wow. Kid is a stud, but I'm still surprised to see him on the second team. With Tuileta and Fey Punahou is gonna be a load the next two years.

Congrats to Tui Tuileta, Micah Ma`a and Evan Enriques for earning all-American and honorable mention honors...definitely the three top players in Hawai`i and they all play on the same Ka Ulukoa club team...glad to see Micah making all-American...he struggled in the state tournament with a wrist injury, but still glad to see him getting the recognition...the future of Hawai`i high school volleyball looks bright as Tuileta and Enriques will only be juniors this year and Ma`a a sophomore!

I don't root for things Stanfurd , but James Shaw deserves 1st team for sure. He is outstanding. And Peter Edwards fully deserves his 2nd team selection, if not higher; Pacific has a gem, a great player, focus and competitive spirit are superior.

What about the kuikahi kid Chad Barretta? He wasn't the best player on his own team. Probably could have been honorable mention, but Michael Fisher made it, and HB isn't a big name school so I guess someone decided that having two of their guys on the list just wasn't acceptable. Kind of a bizarre list overall, it seems like their criteria was pretty haphazard. I can't imagine what standards they used.

we'll see if Varni can beat out Cassidy for the libero spot at USC. I have heard good things about Varni.

Just watched Punahou play Mira and Corona del mar on youtube and it was awesome to see tui play against good competition. I saw him when he was playing 14s at a club tournament and it wasnt even fair for him to be playing on the low net. And Varni does just really change that game for Mira looks like a great player.
