Lindsey Berg sides us out more efficiently than any double sub, no matter who is front row --> she's that good and that's why she's the starter.
The double-sub is more about scoring points on the block and with serve and defense. Hugh pulled the plug because it was so late in the set that we didn't have time to risk losing another point in receive to get to a better scoring rotation with a bigger block. It wasn't that he lost faith in the tactic, he just needed a side out _right now_ and Lin (with Destinee on the D) was who he trusted to give it to him.

Other teams may try to stack against Larson and Tom. I doubt they can do much about Hooker. If that happens, the middles will need to produce. What's interesting to me is that Harmatto and Foluke are very different middle hitters. Berg frankly looks more comfortable setting lower quicks to Harmatto, but Foluke needs a higher set. Harmatto also hits the slide faster, but both are excellent on this play. Will be interesting. Brazil did not look solid most of the time, but the US is formidable.

Brazil did not look solid most of the time, but the US is formidable. To me, Brazil looked like a team that expected to lose -- until the third set. As that set progressed they looked like they suddenly believed they might be able to play with the US.

It's difficult to set Foluke because she's already in the air waiting for the ball, then jabs really quickly... getting the timing right on that, especially in transition, is tough.

Except thousands of male players do this all day long all over the planet. I would love to see Foluke do something like a few people say Willoughby did last year -- go play in a men's tournament, where true quicks are normal for any good team. Foluke is too fast and explosive for the women's game. Hmm... if only there were a way to get her on the same team with Take%*$#a!
