This is a very dangerous match for the US. Wang has shown bits and pieces, but nothing convincing, IMO. Can she jump enough to hit around Foluke and Destinee? We'll see. Wang is not the key for the current Chinese team. The key is their opposite Zhang and setter Wei. Zhang is not Zhou Suhong, but her ball control is damn good. Wei really impreseed me in this Olympics. Her connections w/ the hitters are just superb.

I agree regarding Wei, she looks like a complexity different setter from last year, and filling the shoes of Zhou Suhong in no small feat, she was so awesome. That said, Wang will be super important if China goes in the shank tank.

I disagree about Wei looking any different than in the past. I've always thought she was a very solid setter but post Feng Kun she has been put under a microscope. What's different is the level of China's reception due to the return of Hui Roqui from injury, whom I surprised no one has mentioned as being key to China's resurgence, and the addition of Zhang at the OPP position. Prior to the WC last year China experimented with different pin hitters and were without Roqui and that lead to pretty atrocious passing. Wei's talent and ability was always there; solid passing was not.

So for me she is just playing at her expected level, much like Wei. Still, I don't think China can hang if USA plays near their expected level.

Roqui is a very good player...She makes China a contender. She should be on the scouting reports.
