Tell me it ain't so!
Just checked the NBC schedule and it shows that the women's gold medal match will televised during the prime time section of the NBC broadcast. 7 hours after it is scheduled to start. WHY?!
The match is scheduled to begin at 1:30 PM ET, 12:30 PM CT, 11:30 AM MT, and 10:30 AM PT.
The bronze medal match is scheduled to be televised during the day.
This sucks!

If you have home internet watch it live on nbcolympics.com. I don't at home so I will be watching the scores on my phone. I just have to know when it's actually happening. I'm weird like that.

They won't offer the live on-line version. We'll need another source.
You have to take the good with the bad here. If another feed is available, it's probably the best possible scenario for the sport. They'll show most of it, delayed, unless it's a really long match.
Let's just hope Team USA is one of the participants. I'm really worried about an upset in the medal rounds.

If they showed it live, people would be grumbling that it isn't shown during prime time. NBC is actually doing volleyball a service by putting it on when more people can watch it.

The more the sport is televised, regardless of time, the better in my opinion. Then again I've had the luck to watch stuff online via the nbc website.

What does prime time have to do with a Saturday night? There's a reason the networks schedule their important media properties for M-Th night and send low-rated shows to the weekend graveyard. More people can watch at 1:30pm on a Saturday than can watch it in the evening when many people are involved in social events.

More people are going to stay in to watch on a Summer Saturday afternoon? Doubt it. NBC will get more viewers showing it in prime time - this is the Olympics, not a Saturday night re-run of Two and a Half Men. People will tune in, whether it's on Friday, Saturday etc. The Olympics drew huge numbers last night (Saturday): tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2012/08/05/tv-ratings-saturday-xxx-olympics-champion-night-ufc-comes-in-second/143940/

Saturday night's alright. (This isn't just a volleyball thing. Every swimming final was shown in prime time instead of live. So were gymnastics. This is what NBC does for the favored events. I can only hope they will show the whole thing, though.)

Television was made for 106^ days.

I still stand by the fact that more people watch television on Saturday night over Saturday day. If the opposite were true, we wouldn't see so many damn infomercials on Saturday days.

Television was made for 106^ days. California. Hermosa Beach, to be more exact. Nice breezes, marine layer burned off about noon, temperature around 75 today. You do have a point, I forget how good I have it, and that everyone I know is surfing, playing beach VB, etc on an August Saturday afternoon. Still, the numbers don't lie - Saturday night prime time for the Olympics draws big numbers, and I'm sure there will be a ton of eyeballs glued to the screen that night. Say what you will about NBC's coverage, but they know how to bring the ratings in (this is the most-watched Olympics in the USA in 36 years), and if they're holding off on showing the volleyball final until prime time, they figure it will maximize ratings. I know I'll be sitting in the patio of Waterman's or Silvio's next to the beach watching it along with a packed house of VB fans.
