Yes, it is absolutely a harmless question. It is just that this question comes up a lot on here, more often concerning HS jrs, sophs, and frosh contact with college coaches, so sometimes an impatient response comes up. It is a good question. I do realize that the majority of clubs do not have recruiting coordinators. I said I was "assuming" she did. That is why it was the 4th or 5th option I listed to get the info needed. I coach for a very small club, 3 HS teams total. 1 18s, 16s, and 15s each, but we have at least 2 coaches who parents and players can ask about recruiting information. Another option would be to ask the HS coach. They may know something as well. I would think that many of those coaches first responses would not be "Go to Volleytalk, they can help you there", even though it should be!

However, at the DI level, coaches cannot text her and they can not talk to her off of their own campus. They can say "hello", but that is about it. If the match was a home match for her future school, then yes, coaches could talk to her since on-campus contact is allowed. Senior year, they can have off-campus contacts (limited) during the contact period. As for the Anne Kordes informational video...it's a bit wrong as to current rules have changed. I stand corrected - seniors can talk with coach off that coach's campus. Even though original poster mentioned his/her senior daughter, I was thinking junior. Sorry for the confusion.

DI and DIII coaches can coach any high school age athlete during club season as long as that player lives within 50 miles of campus. An athlete may live beyond the 50 mile radius if that club is the closest opportunity to play. (Both of these mentioned earlier)
The rule is different for a DII coach. Players must live within 100 miles of campus or closest opportunity. Why is the DII rule different? They asked for 100 miles from the rules committee and other divisions did not.

I don't think she was yelling at you specifically. Then again, have you done something to make her angry? Maybe she reads VolleyTalk! That would do it.

Good question...you wouldn't think DI & DIII would be similar in this respect.
