There are plenty of coaches out there with credentials. Oregon State has struggled for years to stay out of the PACWhatever cellar with a guy who has done everything, including coached (and medaled) in the Olympics. IMO, X's and O's skills are important but not as much as recruiting. Especially when you are coaching an up and coming program.

That stuff works against teams as much as it does for them. ISU has way bigger fish to fry on their own side of the net. Syracuse will be top 25 within two years. "Syracuse top 25 in next 2 years" Is that based on good young recruits, good coach or just intuition? All the above! Intuition is not included!

There are plenty of good recruiters out there too, and plenty of schools with a lot to offer. You talk about top 25, you have to pass a lot of people. I don't follow coaches much, really, but I look around at just the blatantly obvious in my immediate area (California), you have three guys with nine national championships at five schools between them, and another that has one NC in two years of coaching, looks like a movie star and is offering scholarships in LA, and another who has a final four and a final two in the last few years, and there are many more very good coaches out here, most at excellent schools with lots of volleyball history. The rest of the Pac12, and all of the Big 10- or for that matter, the Big12 or SEC, can offer better competition and more volleyball history. Best of luck to him, but to expect him to pull a ranking in the near future is extremely optimistic.

I had a few recruits that after visiting decided against and not because of the program or coaching.... As one player told me " it is in the middle of nowhere where the sun don't shine"!

"Syracuse top 25 in next 2 years" Is that based on good young recruits, good coach or just intuition? Based on great coaching and the certainty that he will bring in several international kids who can flat out play. No intuition, rather proven history. Yeah well thats all nice an stuff but at $52, 000 and crappy facilities this won't be helpful to a top 25 position.

Based on history it is more than likely.
