It's both. My kids just plain like the feel of playing in them, go figure. Hey, if they're happy, maybe they'll play better. OK maybe not. Both for sure... Someone should turn this into a poll... It's purely for aesthetics as are those ridiculous arm warmers that are becoming more and more prevalent.

I had a libero that swore up and down that she played much better in the long sleeves because she stopped worrying about "court rash" or " court burn" I cannot remember what she called it.... So the next year, we got both and mental or not, made a difference! Kind of like Rostratter's blue helmet! ;D

I understand completely what you are saying. But it may have been a different issue for a player like Danielson, since her body doesn't produce sweat in order for her body to cool off. Interesting - was she sprayed down during play/practice with water to simulate sweat?

Interesting - was she sprayed down during play/practice with water to simulate sweat? She would cool herself off with pouring water onto herself and/or she would use a type of cooling vest during timeouts. To give you an idea of what the vest looks like, stop this video clip at 11 seconds, and you can see her sitting on the bench wearing a black colored vest.

Texas has always worn long sleeves.
I believe Florida had been wearing short sleeves for several years, and was surprised when they wore long sleeves this season at the Nike Classic.

I like the form-fitting sleeveless jersey look. The kind that the Kim/Lily teams of Hawai'i used in the 2002-2003 era. I think loose-fitting jerseys, whether short, long or sleeveless, look unkempt, like pajama tops or practice t-shirts.

During the 2010 season Lainey Gera stopped wearing the same jersey as the rest of the Bruins after a couple games and started wearing a long-sleeved one in a totally different style. In 2011 she went back to matching the team but was wearing a long sleeved shirt underneath

Are the long sleeves made of the same poly material as rash guards we wear for jiu jitsu and surfing? Seems like that would be uncomfortable for volleyball. Even capped sleeves seem like they'd be annoying. Are girls really tearing up their arms without sleeves? Maybe the libero only?

If you talk to passers and diggers who use longsleeves or arm sleeves, I think their argument would be they like the way the ball comes off their forearms with them.

Long sleeves are purely aesthetic. Libero's are like goalies in soccer or hockey and have a different set of uniform needs

Next year, the libero jersey must be a solid color that isn't on the regular player's uniform. I know they slightly modified the wording this year, but the libero jersey is never going to be like a soccer goalie. BTW, Hockey goalies wear the same jersey as the rest of the team.

We were given them by Munciana (who has them custom made) to try on our athletes and get feedback. I can tell you they rave about them. We never advocated them, or told them they need to where them, they love them.
