Wong-Orantes has been a big fan of the Hawai'i program since she was a kid. Don't know how much that will factor into her decision, though. Hawai'i wasn't on Crissy Jones radar last I heard, but that was some time back.

Hawaii and Nebraska are Wong-Orantes' top 2 right now. I found it a little odd since Hawaii has Higgins in this class and Nerbaska has Hunter. Both teams have good liberos too. She may commit to one, but I wouldn't be surprised if she looked for options with more immediate playing time too. Wong-Orantes is undersized but very skilled. Good beach player. She's also a nice conduit to Crissy Jones' recruitment.

www.foxsportswest.com/09/26/12/Kirstin-Olsens-CIF-SS-volleyball-scoutin/landing.html?blockID=795909&feedID=79725. Los Alamitos (Los Alamitos, Calif.) 19-4 The Griffins had an early preseason loss to Iolani (Honolulu, Hawaii) and a disappointing 25th finish at the Durango Classic with some losses to some good teams like Horizon (Scottsdale, Ariz.). They finished third in the Dave Mohs Invitational losing to Mater Dei in the semis. Hawaii commit and senior setter Justine Wong-Orantes (SR, 5-7) will be dishing the sauce to the likes of middle blocker Crissy Jones (JR., 6-2) who was a force in the middle last season. Jones can take over matches with her blocking and hitting, so if the Griffins can feed her they are a definite contender. " Hmmmm. Looks like according to this she's going to Hawaii? It's on the internet...it must be true

What About the outside Island Girls? Maui? Big Island? Molokai? Kaui? Dave has two from Maui County, I think the outer islands girls have a lot of potential. I do understand political and who you know rules but these girls work very hard and really looks forward to playing for Hawaii!

I do understand political and who you know rules but these girls work very hard and really looks forward to playing for Hawaii! No offense but there is no one on Maui and Moloka`i for that matter, that can compete at that level at this time...unless you know someone that you think could compete for the Wahine...the only one with slight potential is Sienna Davis from Kamehameha-Maui who graduates this school year...so going by the title of the thread there is no one in the Class of 2014 that will be able to compete at that level...the MIL is in a rebuilding phase and the talent level is not that high at the current time... Really you need to be real the talent level is just not that high to compete at the top Division I level...I don't believe there are any politics involved in this, it is just if you don't have the game to play for the Wahine or at that level you won't...Maui girls just aren't at that level...Maui was just fortunate to have Ginger and Kalei playing in the MIL at the same time...how often have you seen a girl from Maui on the Wahine roster and for that matter contribute? It has nothing to do with politics its just the level of play on Maui is far behind the play of the girls on O`ahu...not saying there isn't talent on Maui, but not at the level of competing at the top Divison I level...for that matter how often have you seen a girl from the MIL playing at a top DI program? The last I could remember was Leahi Hall at Stanford from 2001-2004.

Emily Maeda's not on scholarship? Looking at the Wahine roster they actually lose nine players in 2013 considering they all stay on the roster: Emily Hartong, Ali Longo, Ashley Kastl, Kaela Goodman, Mita Uiato, Kristiana Tuaniga, Sarah Mendoza, Kristina Kam, and Courtney Lelepali...another interesting and fun fact, would this be Dave's largest graduating class if they all do stick around for next season? Emily Maeda is a five-year walk-on, I believe. And as mentioned above, Mendoza will be redshirting along with freshmen DS, which means she'll be graduating with Croson, Adolpho and Stauber. Longo and Elizabeth Ka'aihue were the only defensive specialists given scholarships right out of the gate. Melissa Villaroman, Hedder Ilustre and Ashley Watanabe originally came as walk-ons before earning scholarships.
