Only Oregon has a great road win, and to be honest not sold on USC as a great team. I was impressed with USC against ASU. Hagglund was a vacuum cleaner (Haley said she'd become "bored") and Olgard awakened her sleeping giant. Bricio was Bricio. If they bring that every match, they'll be a force to be reckoned with. ASU is, however, a one-handed team. I think the Trojans lose at Palo Alto, but win at Berkeley.

UW has had a favorable schedule for developing their young players, without any really tough road trips - their biggest road opponent so far was simply altitude. It is expected that UW will lose at some point along the way. Right now, it is a race to see who can get better faster. It always is. Then its health, draw and playing great at the right time. Thats the formula for titles. UW should be #1 at this juncture, but their road matches will give us a better indication of how good they really are. Bottom line is that the good teams are winning at home. Only Oregon has a great road win, and to be honest not sold on USC as a great team. To be fair, PSU > Minnesota is also a great road win. Especially for the beatdown factor.

To be fair, PSU > Minnesota is also a great road win. Especially for the beatdown factor. Certainly a very good road win. How "great" it was, however, depends on how good Minnesota is. Of course, USC's HCA is fairly small - in other words, Oregon's win over USC might not qualify as a great "road" win either. Now, PSU @ Nebraska and Oregon @ UW - those would be great road wins.

Meh, Minnesota's a Top 10 team, Top 15 if you're being stingy. If you exclude them, you make the potential number of "great" road wins so limited you won't even need a full hand to count them nationwide at the end of the season. Edit: (Removed Texas parallel as I just reviewed Texas' record for the year--had entirely forgotten about Illinois)

Minnesota should be moved for 1 year to DII for that 8-point 2nd set at home.

Minnesota's position in the poll is based on splitting on the road with Texas and beating Dayton, illinois, and Ohio State. Certainly the Dayton and Illinois wins are looking a good deal less impressive now. The only reason the Gophers are still in the Top 10 is the Ohio State win. As to Texas, the only feathers in their cap are San Diego and Florida. I see a "great" win as being over a great team, whether at home or on the road. Saying that Minnesota is a very good, but not a great, team is not an insult.
