And the Big Sky tournament is the last weekend, usually, complicating the life of the (Volleytalk) Committee! I dunno if they let it complicate their life... I think they just work in the winner and have been doing it that way for some time... which would help explain some of the odd choices back when EWU had Benson at the helm.

Ok... The chart should be updated with correct scores now. As of 11/11. I won't update again for a few days or so.
I did not update the map to reflect Pepperdine, but do add them in when browsing team locations and possible matchups.

This is old-school. It used to be fun to discuss bubble teams, but not as much intrigue anymore as all you have to do is countdown the rpi till you get to 33 (after taking out auto-bids). The last released RPI before the selection will tell you all you need to know... 2 or 3 bubbles by then

But, I do this to emphasize why the NCAA Selection Process needs to change.

And maybe, just maybe, they are changing. The information Odin posted says that the committee is no longer forbidden from consulting pablo or the AVCA coaches' poll. So maybe the list of at-large teams this year will not be just the top eligible RPI teams. In which case, old school might be new again.

Wow... I can't recall ever seeing the same density as I see here towards the eastern seaboard for a bubble list... remember that 12-of these teams, or so, won't make the tournament, and some of the automatic bids may change a little. Still, it bodes very well that the west coast teams are going to have significantly tougher first/second round matches than eastern teams just do to the makeup of the nearby teams. When you look at that map and realize the predominance of teams being located in the eastern half of the US it does make it even more impressive how many titles, final-fours, tournament appearances have been the domain of the West Coast.

Thanks for all the hard work.
You left off the NEC. One bid. Top 4 regular season teams make the NEC Tourney.
Northeast Conference Tournament is Nov.17th/18th.
LIU Robert Morris Cent. Conn. St. Mary's(Pa).

Ooh. Ooh. A possible St. Mary's v. St. Mary's first round match. I'd have to get that right on PTW!

Or put St. Mary's (PA) in the Penn State regional; let them sweat a tiny bit thinking there's a team with an RPI under 75. Not too much, though.

If Loyola Marymount can win their last two against Santa Clara and USF, could they sneak into the discussion? Could they knock Santa Clara out and essentially steal their spot? They already beat Santa Clara once this season. Their RPI is on the bubble-out right now at 48, but they have been on the climb. They were at 60 just a few weeks ago I believe. They are hot lately with a win over Pepperdine.
LMU is missing a big signature win - even Pepperdine is a little down this year. They fought San Diego & BYU twice very hard - but couldn't manage wins. Their biggest win is over Notre Dame (rpi: 34)
They just haven't lost many games (recently) that they shouldn't have. Since October, they've lost 4 games. Two of those were to BYU (RPI:12), one to Pepperdine(RPI:36), one to San Diego (RPI: 24).

The map is missing Alaska. And Hawaii is way too close to Mexico. I think you should start over.
The map also looks like the board game Risk.
