vballfreak808, do you really think Jane Croson's situation has to do with academics, or is it just rhetoric that coaches say when they cannot mention the real reason?

I do know that all the BWC teams are hoping Jane Croson does transfer. It will make it a lot easier for them to dethrone the Wahines, in 2013. I believe without Jane, the Wahine will have a difficult time winning the BWC Title again.

This issue going on is pretty confusing because of the different rumors going on. I think Hawaii still has a chance winning the Big West title. If Coach Shoji can play his cards right then he can get through the conference. If Croson does not come back then he will just have to figure out where to put people. But if Croson does transfer to Arizona, then Shoji probably won't grant a release only because we will see them in the SSC in September. But if I were to just guess, I would think it is because of academics.

Thank you for your response, vballfreak808. I believe you to be very trustworthy, and knowledgeable with it comes to volleyball.

vballfreak808, did Jane Croson have any academic problems while at Los Alamos? Just asking, since I know you follow volleyball, whether it be high school, or college, very closely.

The Wichita State tournament on September 20-21 has Hawaii, Wichita State, Creighton, and Washington. Should be an interesting tournament Yes, it should also help Hawaii's RPI, just in case the BWC has another down year.

I thought I heard/read that her situation is not grade related but could be academic related. Not being sure...I will read between the lines and guess that Jane has good grades but maybe she is not attending class or missed study hall or something of that sort.
I don't know how else to read into this. I think some UH coaches are strict on class attendance(football, I know for sure). I assume Shoji is the same. Even if you have good grades, I thinks he mandate that his student athletes go to class too.

Apropos of nothing, I remember a graduate class in linear algebra in which I got an A but almost never attended class. The professor was a terrible teacher, but the book was pretty well-written, so there was no point in actually going to class. The professor's lectures were, quite literally, just reading from the book. The only reason to go to class was if you had a question you wanted him to answer. Anybody else remember the joke in Real Genius where one by one students stop going to a particular class and instead just set up tape recorders? Eventually the lecture becomes a tape recording of the professor talking to the tape recorders of the students.

If Croson & Strehlow transfer to Pepperdine (not saying either of them will) it could be Sport Shack 2.0, The College Years with Orozco, Dykstra already there.

Whoa where is Pepp getting all these scholarships for all these transfers going there? Are they all sand only? Well, one 2012 transfer (Orozco), one 2013 transfer (Strehlow), and one sand only transfer (Dykstra). I think that's it...wait, there was another transfer - Sieckmann. But I'm not sure she was on a scholarship, and she's already left the program. So two indoor/sand transfers in two years plus one sand transfer. Not really that many, really.
