Not a Minnesota fan, but this discussion has me intrigued. Thought I'd share some light. When I was recruited, I was actually quite surprised at all of the different tactics. Some were a stretch and way out there, some were subtle but effective. Different tactics? Can you elaborate?

Not a Minnesota fan, but this discussion has me intrigued. Thought I'd share some light. When I was recruited, I was actually quite surprised at all of the different tactics. Some were a stretch and way out there, some were subtle but effective. Different tactics? Can you elaborate? Sure. Some coaches go over and beyond for their recruits. They handle them being on campus like they have the golden ticket in hand and Willy Wonka is a-callin. The coach never leaves the players side, always prodding for questions, making sure, the recruit falls in love with the program. Some recruits love the attention. Others don't. I didn't- I wanted to form my own opinion. The visits I liked most were the ones where I was allowed to, an extent do my own thing. During practice viewing, I would sit with my parents, not the coach. If I had a question, the coach was available, but wasn't attached to my hip. On a school tour, they let me take in what I was seeing, not dousing me with useless facts or things that had no interest to me. Everyone is different, and successful recruiters employ different strategies to succeed. The later of these two worked on me.
