is it fair to say that, in general, American players are moving up in status? Gibbemeyer and Jackson to Lokomotiv Baku, Harms to an Italian A1 team, Lloyd and Klineman together in italian A1, Newcombe from Germany to Russia; collectively impressive moves, it seems, although I know very little about European pro leagues.

It's fair to say that there are many more athletes coming out of the NCAA that are able to compete at a very high professional level. Italy, once the creme de la creme, has been facing big financial troubles. Someone like Harms is a great pick-up because she is CHEAP (due to NO professional/international experience) but comes from spending a year under the direction of Hugh, who is obviously very well-respected around the world. Lloyd and Klineman very much enjoy the lifestyle Italy provides and are willing to forego more money in Azerbaijan and Turkey to stay. USA volleyball is in tremendous shape.

Life style In Italy? Surely you jest. I found most Italians to be less than um... cordial. I'd never go back if I didn't have to.

Meagan Ganzer signed with Dresdner SC (Germany). Let's see if she'll manage to stay a whole season in the same club this time...

Rewatching the Nebraska/Washington Regional semifinal from this past year and made me think. Any news on what Cook/Mancuso/Werth are doing professionally next year? I know they all were in Puerto Rico this past season and Hannah struggled with an injury towards the latter stage of the season

How awesome is that! Kayla Banwerth is signed with Rabita Baku for the next three years, so she'll be playing with Akinradewo!
