It looks like the Hannah Haters are rallying a little bit. If you watched the K-State match and you feel particularly compelled to bash the setter, you either have a pathological compulsion or you are baiting other posters. There is nothing Allison can do to change the minds of the Haters. Texas is passing better, varying its offense more, hitting for a high percentage, and getting more consistent. The hating is even more inappropriate than usual right now. The whole team has a very good match against KSU. Again, Hannah's play at the net was very strong. A big difference maker for the team.

no matter how well Chloe may have played this season...the fact is the Longhorns won it all last year with Allison setting. Hannah knows what it takes to win a national title, you might use Chloe in a situation to mix things up...but if Texas wants to repeat, you better make sure Hannah is taking most of the reps.

Nell Fortner and Sunderland commented that Texas was making a concerted effort in going more to the middles and RS early and often; Coach Elliott said the same as far as the strategy for Hannah. What does she know - - she's a former basketball player! What also helped was some good passing that made it easier to set our middles. Some really good swings from Chiaka and of course Bell had a great night.Ciaka's fantastic! Even without great passing, she's been active previous matches. She's going to be a great one.

Chiaka is waaaaaaaaay under utilized offensively, 7-9 sets per match is not enough. She is Texas' best MB hitter in front of the setter. Very effective and efficient, I would have her rotate to MB a few times when she and Molly are front row. Her blocking technique is pretty damn impressive.

Okay, I agree that Nell's forte is not commentating, at least on volleyball. But I did enjoy her on the Women's Final four basketball broadcasts as a studio analyst several years ago.
But as far as saying she is just a former basketball player would be unfair. She played at least two years for Texas when Mick first got to Texas. Early and then after her basketball eligibility was over and was a very nice player who made a lot of contributions. I think she has just been away from the game for way too long.

I for one enjoy Nell's commentary on LHN. It is head and shoulders better than when Kelli Tennant was commentating on matches on LHN. Her commentary was excessively critical and even when something complimentary was said it was one of those backhand compliments. You need to strike the balance for sure, but Tennant sucks.

The numbers she's producing are AA worthy, if she just got more sets then she'd be up there in the AA category. hitting about .400 on the season and blocking about 1.05 blks/set as an Opp is impressive for a frosh.

I was joking about Fortner.

I've heard Kelli on the Pac 12 network and when she is commentating on matches in her native conference she's fine, dare I say even insightful. The ongoing verbal swipes and subtle digs at the Texas program when she was on LHN grew tedious and distracted from her analysis.
