If Dalton and Baker both redshirt I think we could see Pilar and Haley on the outside(both play all 6 rotations) and Bailey on the right side. I have not seen Pilar but have heard many awesome things about her game. Very very true, I completely agree. I was just looking at the pictures though and they do have Baker with the sophmores so that is pretty much a redshirt given, but Dalton is in there too, if they were sure on Dalton's redshirt I'd think she'd still be with the Freshman. Who knows though. I'd love to see Dalton on the right side. She has the ball control to do it. She was fantastic in the backrow last season. But I agree with your plan too, Pilar could cut it as an OH with Eck. I've seen her play as well and she's like a man.

Sorry to hear about the redshirts for medical reasons. I hope the players involved will be back at 100 percent next year.

Texas has so much talent. They can field two teams and I think both teams can go far in the NCAA Tournament

Overall, I think she was disappointing last season based on all the hype by many Texas VB fans on this board. But she was a freshman which should be taken into account as we now pick Pilar as the next big thing.

2 #1 players 1#2 player 1#4 player 1#5 player 2#6 players 2 #9 players 1#10 player
10 top 10 players in an active roster. This must be an all time record. Too freaking unfair : )

I really am bummed about not having Dalton and Baker available this season. Each is capable of being a 6-rotation player, and based on what I've seen, both have better passing skills than Texas' other returning players over 6' tall. Maybe Khat will play all 6 rotations this season, along with Eckerman.
I'm surprised no one on the roster is listed as a "Utility" player; that's been a constant with Jerritt in the past. That might have been a clue as to who of Hattis, Ogbogu or other can play opposite.
Elliott said on the LHN segment that he will continue to use the early season matches to experiment with different lineups, and that he has mellowed and is no longer hung up on early season non-conference wins. Personally, I think he should do the opposite this season by going with his strongest, experienced lineups in order to win as many of the big non-conference matches as possible; he can use the early part of the Big 12 contests to "experiment", and probably not suffer many losses. But, yes, the conference title still has to be won on the court.

If Dalton is out, who is going to pass? Actually could work out well for Team USA if Eckerman is forced into passing rotation full time.

Now that Dalton is 100% going to redshirt, I think it's pretty obvious that the only option they have is to move Bell to the right, Chiaka in the middle, and rest stay as they were. With 15 subs per set, you can DS both Webster and Bell to get some passers in there. I think people will be surprised by Eckerman as a receiver. I heard she's put in a ton of work. Same with Bell. Haley won't be passing full-time, but she'll be back there occasionally. And remember, you don't exactly need perfect passes to run Texas' offense...

How do you know that Dalton is 100% going to redshirt? Also, I don't believe that is the only option they have. Texas has an INCREDIBLY deep lineup that has multiple options for the pin hitters.

Coach Elliott stated that Eckerman will be counted on for a backrow attack; she played plenty in the backrow this past season, but was subbed when she struggled.
Bell played all 6 rotations early on in her freshman season while playing on the left side. Don't think she has to be moved to the right side in order to play in the back row; pehaps she can also attack from the back row.

When was it said by Elliott that Dalton was going to redshirt?
I watched the interview and he said based on all the talent coming to Texas, the program is now in a position to redshirt players. To my knowledge he has not mentioned any players by name. I understand from a previous post that Baker has announced on her twitter page she will be redshirting due to medical reasons.
Any other specific info?
