I think we are underestimating the Rams. I'd like for UCSB and Northridge to do well but I think they are both one and done in the tourney.

I think CSUN is more than capable of beating CSU...USD might be a little too much for UCSB but if they bring their A game they can compete.

I love where Hawaii's seeded. I also love that 3 BW teams got in too.

Great to see 3 Big West teams in the tournament. And very happy to see that Hawaii is hosting. Mid-season, I didn't think that would happen, but glad that Hawaii will be at home for the first/second round. Good match ups for Hawaii. Oddly, they don't seem that tough, but that's probably because Hawaii has had very odd second round matches like Washington, USC, and Texas in the past decade, so this seems easier by comparison. Still, Arizona State/BYU will be a tough match.
Glad to see Northridge in the tournament. Really interesting match up against Colorado State. Will be tough as I expect CSU will be looking to make up for their loss to SDSU. But definitely a match that Northridge can win.
UCSB versus San Diego intrigues me. I kind of think this is a poor match up for UCSB. San Diego is such a good defensive team that Santa Barbara's off speed hitting might not phase them much. And San Diego did beat UCSB in the preseason, but Santa Barbara is a much different team, as others have mentioned. Frankly, this could be a battle of the right side hitters.

Nice win last night for Northridge over a very talented Colorado State team. Wishing the best for Santa Barbara and Hawaii tonight. Three first round wins would be great for the big West Conference. Good Luck tonight girls!

seems like it is going to be a down year for big west next year. I don't see Hawaii in the immediate position for playing for the title since they lost so many, maybe towards the middle or end of season. UCSB/LBSU will be decent I think barring injuries. I think CSUN had lots of seniors too

Solid recruiting class on its way. Santa Barbara loses their senior leadership Thompson - RS, and Sully - Libero. Northridge will need to replace setter Gedryn, outside Haina and has a solid recruiting class on its way. Long Beach - loses their outside. Hampton will need to return to her Freshman form for them to finish first. Health always seems to be a problem. Early prediction: 3-4 teams in the tournament 1. Northridge and Santa Barbara are a toss up with a slight lean toward Northridge. 3. Hawaii 4. Long Beach

I noticed that the 2014 UC Riverside roster has gone from 18 players in 2013 to 10 for 2014. No doubt they will have some freshman coming in, but it looks like they only graduated 2 seniors, so there appears to have been some serious housecleaning by the new coach. I also noticed that their freshman setter, Nae Bender, who carried the load for them last year, is not on this year's roster. Any idea where she landed?

UCR has two liberos and two middles coming in...not going to help too much. Their setter I heard was academically dismissed from school.

How good Hawaii's gonna be depends on one of two things in my opinion: 1) how well they pass to run their middles to take the offensive load off of Taylor and or 2) can Taylor turn her sophomore year into a Willoughby type year, where the passing wouldn't matter because Hawaii will set Taylor anyway. With Magill coming in, Hawaii's gonna have middles that are more offensive, hopefully Adolpho improves her footspeed.
I can't wait to Magill vs. Okpala match-up. That's gonna be great.
