Big West Setters - who is gonna have the biggest impact?
Gedryn (North) & Uiato (Haw) are the unquestionable top dogs in this position. Woolway (Davis) & Cosani (Full) have experience and should make Davis/Full solid. The fate of the Big West though could be from a pretty heralded frosh/soph group that were pretty impressive as freshman and that makes this position interesting for the next 3 years to see how much of an impact they have on the race and their teams. Will Kuber & Villanueva be soley setters or will they be part of 6-2s or see significant time as OPPs?
Kuber (Poly) Villanueva (SB) Juley (LB) & Johnson(LB) Anderson (UCI)
& then there is UCI with a slew of frosh.

Long Beach State loss Tara Roenicke? Is she saving her body for two more seasons of Sand Volleyball? She was the best sand player IMO.

Looking at the LBSU line-up for their alumni match, guess its going to be their obvious but best line-up:
OH: Aigner-Swesey, Reid MB: Hampton, Okpala S: Juley L: Jackson DS: Cabrajac (for OPP Mackie)

Coach Zimmerman discusses the Fullerton volleyball double days and that the best is yet to come.
I hope for 3-0 this week vs UNLV, KS, and Portland.

Well if Fullerton can beat UNLV (RPI 86 last year) on the road that would be a good win.
If Fullerton can upset Kansas St. (RPI 25 last year) that would be very impressive.
Edit: Watched the nice long interview and the coach says there's more newbies than returners on the team. Yikes Fullerton just needs to come away with a win over Portland. lol

Yes, at least 3 freshman might start, but as the coach says in the video that everyone gets along and team chemistry is good. Even last year Kayla, four time first team all league, was only a small but key part of Fullerton's defense. And, as so often said, you win with defense. If the freshman can fill the defensive roll effectively Fullerton will win. Go Titans

But defense seems to be something most freshmen have trouble with. In the past I've noticed most UCI freshmen are not even allowed to play in the back row. The opponent will just serve to them relentlessly and go on long runs. Fullerton was picked 7th while UNLV was picked 3rd in the Mountain West. UNLV will be tough but if Fullerton can pull the upset that's a good win for the Big West. I'm rooting for Fullerton to win all their matches in non-conference. Looking at the schedule Fullerton plays 8 teams that had an RPI over 150 last season. So I expect Fullerton to have like an 8-4 record coming into conference play.

Some important season openers. Texas at Hawaii and Illinois at Long Beach St. will test how good the top of the conference is. CSUN vs Santa Clara, Fullerton at UNLV and Davis vs SDSU will test how deep the rest of the Big West is.
I'm fired up for the season to start on Friday.
