Sure they'll give her more time, but 0-15 ?! Do you have an MBA? I have a graduate degree, but it's not an MBA ? Why do you ask ?

Because you are exhibiting the same thinking that the MBA degree has foisted upon us as a nation and a culture: - Short term results over long term results
- Disdain for the process
- Win now at all cost
- Impatience with building
- Local optima over global optima
- No appreciation of the uniqueness of the endeavor

This could be the most ridiculous and overly defensive thing ever posted in response to a person being slightly critical (and surprised) by an 0-15 record by a program two years removed from a Big East championship and top 25 status. I will re-state: 0-15 ?!?! and if I ever saw Molly in person, I'd ask her: 0-15 ?!?! And by the way, I wish Molly nothing but the best and feel for her and the hell she must be going through.

Give any and all excuses you want but the bottom line is that Molly has to turn this thing around soon or she will be gone! It is shocking to have not one Ohio kid on the roster given the talent pool. College coaching is becoming increasingly more cut throat. The days of being a nice guy and losing are about over. Now you have to win AND be a nice guy. This must be what it feels like to coach basketball! I do hope for all involved (especially Steve and Nicole) that Cincy can pull it together. They are all good people! I am not certain being a NICE GUY/GAL is that important to AD's. My perspective is that it is all about WINNING and bringing fans in to watch your matches. My CRAZY theory is that if you are a coach who is too nice, too sympathetic to your non-players, basically coaching more with your HEART than your HEAD, you are going to have trouble both reaching championship status and staying there. That is one reason why I was so happy that Jerritt Elliott and his Texas team won it all last season. From my fan perspective, Coach Elliott is one of the nice guys of coaching. (Of course, it does not hurt that he coaches at the university whose athletic department has the absolute most money to make their various sports succeed, and Texas is not afraid to spend the money. I know wherefore I speak. Texas recently hired away from Illinois our up-and-coming, successful women's track coach to be an associate head coach. This coach was an Illini alum, but for her benefit and the benefit of her family, she felt she had to go where the money is....TEXAS!)

Slightly critical? You were speculating about her job security. I take that to be more than slightly critical.
Programs go through their ups and downs and people come on here and call for various peoples jobs; but then programs either get better or the they get fired, either way, most coaches get the benefit of a doubt, especially if they are very early in their tenure, the chronological marker being recruiting classes. Usually, if you aren't winning by the time your own recruits are juniors then AD's and SWA's do have a problem. Unlike the aforementioned MBA mentality, you sometimes have to get worse before you can get better.
To panic after an 0-15 start during just her second year at the job is ridiculous.

I read this nonsense, and I just laugh. You people have no clue what has happened to Cincinnati over the past 5 years. All you can do is speculate. Go find some real facts sand then have an intelligent conversation. As to the money issue, how far has that gotten Mack Brown at Texas. He is pretty well out the door. And as far as Texas volleyball, how many National titles do they hold in the sport? Everyone acts like they just pass out championship with little or no effort and that good teams are always guaranteed wins. I wonder even why I try to make a point on this site. Stupid is as stupid does.

Yes, teams go up and down and I like Molly, but show me another program that has dropped 240 spots in the Pablo over 2 years (#33 in 2011 to #277 now). I agree that coaches need time to get their own systems in place and there is some acceptable transition downtime, but this is the ultimate extreme. Has any coach, regardless of situation, dropped this much, this quickly? Cincinnati, with its resources, tradition, and natural advantage of being in a volleyball-rich area should NEVER be under 250 in the Pablos IMO. So it's not that she's having a down year, it's the extremeness of it. I don't think it's crazy at all to question job security when your team is as bad as they are now. And I don't have an MBA.

Reed did not leave by his own choice. Molly is a good coach, but with a coaching change there is usually an adjustment, especially second year and beyond and recruiting habits change, IMO. It is unfortunate that the "adjustment" has been this severe. Hopefully, the school and the players do not give up on Molly and she can get it turned around (quickly). Nice statement of fact and assessment of the situation. However, the decision making by the AD & Molly make me dubious of her turning this around to any great degree. As a long time UC volleyball supporter, there is little more I want to see than this program resume the trajectory this program was on.

Molly will be fine for the duration of her contract and again--I hope she recovers, builds and succeeds from this hole they're in currently.

I'm asking a philosophical question here...I don't know Molly, have no idea if she's the right person for UC....

Stupid is as stupid does. I guess I am stupid because I am not sure what point you are trying to make. $$$$ makes a huge difference in the success of college athletic programs. The support that a particular athletic administration gives to a particular sport, and the money that supportive administration has to spend on facilities, recruiting, coaches salaries, etc. is huge. As to Mac Brown's coaching record at Texas, I suggest you go to this website to view his 16 year record at Texas. texassports.com/sports/2013/7/26/FB_0726134341.aspx?id=247Yes, Coach Brown has disappointed fans and sportswriters the last few years. Everyone expects so much from Texas Longhorn football. In reality, Brown has only had one losing season in 16 years at Texas. He has been in the National Championship Game twice, winning once. Huge amounts of money spent on a team does not GUARANTEE success (NY Yankees, anyone?). But I wish my favorite college football team had the record the last 16 years Mack Brown has produced in Austin, don't you?

I hope you and volleytology will be happy together. What of what I said did you disagree with? In general, Cincinnati is a program set up for success. Large fish in a small pond (the American Conference is not very good), a very good volleyball history to sell, and in a very volleyball-rich area. They have losses to Navy, Northern Kentucky and Temple. I'm not arguing that Molly should be fired, because there should be a lot more that goes into that decision than wins and losses and I'm not privy to that information but if you're the AD at Cincinnati, it HAS to at least be discussed, right? While you're certainly right that people outside the program can't properly assess the uniqueness of the situation regarding the stuff that goes on behind the scenes, the fact that the program dropped from a top 50 program to a 250+ program is also quite unique and should be considered as such and not just your typical "rebuilding" season.
