Yep, I know. Perhaps I am remembering incorrectly but I thought I'd read speculation that she was likely to play a Cowles-like DS role, given her Cowles-like height (or maybe she really IS 6 feet tall).

Dalianliz has just arrived in Minneapolis! The 2-year saga of sorts has finally ended. Welcome to the Gophers Ms. Rosado!

Will there be any open practices like when Hebert was there?

Will there be any open practices like when Hebert was there? There should be. If I'm remembering correctly, wasn't there one last year?

And the first practice event will be announced soon. Nice photo of Daly Santana, Dalianliz Rosado, and Erica Handley from today's 1st practice! *Not sure if the picture is viewable, but here's the link to the whole gallery. www.gophersports.com/view.gal?id=164371

Hey Gopher fans,
New poster here! Please be gentle. Haha.
I am still completely vexed as to how the season could possibly play out for the Gophers this year. My optimism always runs high for this team, but there are still some question marks.
Does anyone think we will have any players with 400+ kills over the length of the season? Right now, I am thinking we might not. Just a gut feeling. I honestly see Santana, Wilhite, Goehner, and possibly Nora and H.Tapp clumped together very closely over much of the season with regards to attacks. I'm thinking we'll have a lot of the players in the 300~ kill range or so. How it will ultimately play out is anyone's guess. I am extremely excited to find out. Also, Alyssa Goehner is just not 5'11". Sorry. 5'10" or 9" is more like it, realistically. Regardless, I am sure she will come out swinging and ready to play.
Libero: Hmmm. Very excited to see what Rosado can do as a freshman. I kind of have a hunch that Bohl will be our starting libero, at least early in the season, possibly with Rosado as a DS. Not saying that Bohl is necessarily better, but more experienced with the BIG10 and the Gophers as a whole. Plus, she's a captain, so there might be some leverage there. She carried us through the spring season at the libero position, after all. If what has been said of Rosado turns out to true, I could easily see her taking over the libero spot later (or even early?) in the season. Hoping to see Brittany Jack get some DS action this year as well.
Setter: Oh man. Two excellent (honestly excellent!) setters. Not sure what's going to happen here. I love Handley's height and the fact that she is a leftie. Plus, she has a ton of experience from last season with Syracuse, not to mention playing in years past with several of the current Gophers on various squads. Schau is just so good. I swear she is taller than 5'8" - she sure plays that way. She is awfully athletic as well and might be even more technically proficient than Handley. We'll see.
This is all stuff that people have mentioned here before, I know, but just stuff that has been kind of simmering on my mind over the past few weeks as I wait for the season to begin. Hopefully this will get this particular board going again. I really see a lot of talent on this team. Losing our seniors from last year is obviously leaving big shoes to fill, but hopefully the team (particularly Goehner, Wilhite, and the Tapps) can rise to the challenge.
