I know most people won't care about this thread, but this is for my fellow wahine fans. What are you thoughts about next season? I'm actually looking forward to next season. I picture the starting lineup to be
OH1: Nikki Taylor OH2: kalei Greeley OPP: keani passi MB: kalei Adolpho and jade vorster S: tayler higgins L: savannah kahakai
They will have a younger roster, but I think this group will mesh will together, and Nikki Taylor and tayler higgins will take on the leadership role well.

That could very well be the starting lineup in 2014. The bigger question is, who will be their head coach?

But btw the only spots I see that are locked up, are kalei Adolpho, tayler higgins and Nikki Taylor. Jade pretty much has it locked up, but we have to see how maglio or huff play out.

That could very well be the starting lineup in 2014. The bigger question is, who will be their head coach? If Shoji announces he's retiring, I hope he coaches one more season so on that season's Senior Night, Hawaii can have an opportunity to give him a proper aloha send off along with that Senior class. It should also allow former Wahine players to be there too, since I am sure they would love to attend it.

Sorry, but I'm still worried about next years team. I think Taylor will be a beast, but Higgins still needs to prove she can set an entire game with consistency. I think Adolpho and Vorster will be up for grabs, but knowing Shoji, he'll start those two just because of their experience and actually, when they're on, they're pretty effective.
I wonder if Hawaii will try a faster offense as they did in 2009?

After those that "think" too much..
Setters: 5.10 Higgins, 5.11 Goodman Opposites: 6.0 Manu-Olevao, 5.10 Passi Middles: Adolpho, Vorster, Maglio, Huff Liberos: 4th Yr. JR Kawamura, Kahakai Outsides: 6.3 Taylor, 4th Yr. JR 5.11 Long, 6.2 Greeley Passing/Digging Specialists: schollied-Mendoza, etc.
This will finally be the Na Wahine which I’ve been longing for i.e. a team reminiscent of Hwn, “ball-control”-lers, past.
AVCA Top 15
Elite 8 Finisher
Shoji’s last year at the helm My guess also is that the Volunteer Assistant coach needs to go. It probably ONLY causes "stir" on the team; it more than likely is into gossip/cattiness for pilikia among the females. I'd replace him with Tanya Fu'umatu-Anderson (outta Punahou).

Passi is an opposite, so she will probably play opposite. I don't see tai competing for a spot next year. She was so inconsistent this year, that Dave can't rely on her. I've seen Greeley play, and she looks like she will make an impact. This years team will have much better ball control though. Tai was horrible, and emily was good, but not great. Higgins has excellent set position and should make a great leader. But Nikki will have to be the hartong next year

Oh and tai was the only starting wahine to not get any big west awards. Ali, emily, Nikki and mita all got first team and kalei and jade got HM

With Shoji coaching next season he'll start this lineup with one change. Olevao at opposite in place of Passi. Shoji has his favorites and will go with Olevao at least for the start of the season. He has his stubbornness in making a change from his first intuition. Took him a while to take Olevao out of the back row rotation with all her shanking serve/receive and realizing that Nikki could handle the defense and be a bigger offensive threat from the backrow.

I agree he can be stubborn and has his favorite, BUT I firmly beleive that with her production last year, and with passis talent, she will beat tai out. Tai may start the first couple matches like goodman did in 2012, but tai will get beat out and I hope she does. Unless tai can make MASSIVE improvement, she will only hurt the wahine.

I'm a firm believer of the hitting percentages that one player can successfully hit at, and Tai hasn't proven to be a consistent contributing factor for the offense. She ended up at .196 (?) for last season and I don't see her improving to an at least more productive .250 pct hitter. I really believe that if your talent is at a certain pct., (you may improve it by .020 more with coaching and practice) you will always be at that pct. Case in point is Kastl, even if she had limited playing time, she still was a low pct. hitter at ASU and ended at UH with a similar below .200 pct. Nikki on the other hand is a legit .280 to .300 pct hitter IMO. Hopefully Greeley, Passi and other hitters can produce at least at a .250+ clip.

With tais numbers, I can't see her improving a lot, and she will only hurt the wahine. In almost every match she hit below 200. That's horrible for a college player who doesn't even get most of the sets. Nikki will be a force for the wahine and I can honestly see her making an all American team next year. I mean she would of been the region freshman of the year if uh did not screw up. I see Greeley as another kahumoku. Probably not as dominant, but will come up big when we need her and post a good block. And have solid floor defense. Passi will be another aneli, just not as high of a volleyball iq. Higgins also has a lot of potential. She's vocal on the court and brings the team up. Wish they red shirted her. But since Monica left, they needed her and ATLEAST she got experience

Anybody know if there are plans on having another Wahine spring match next year over here in Maui like they did with Nebraska?
