And will Hattis be back or will she transfer in the tradition of Texas middle transfers the previous 3 seasons? Hattis switched to a basketball scholarship in mid-December 2012; she went on to play with the hoops team, and did contribute. I could be wrong, but this is what opened up a volleyball scholarship for Tiffany Baker, who transferred for the 2013 Spring semester. My understanding was that Hattis would continue on a hoops scholarship for the 2013-14 academic year. But, she is not listed on the hoops roster, so she is not a member of the team, and not on a hoops scholarship (I would think). With freshman Mirta Baselovic enrolling at Texas for Spring 2014, not sure how that affects the current scholarship numbers (perhaps Webster has already left and vacated her scholarship). According to the UT student directory, Hattis is still enrolled at Texas.

Various distinguished volleyball pundits have opined that a 6-2 should be run by two similar setters. Since Collins and Dalton have vastly different body types I am doubting they have similar setting tendencies, although of course I could be wrong. I foresee a 5-1 next year. And does Baker pass? Don't think 2014 Texas has been overlooked; nothing to see yet.Depending on their schedule, one or two lossess in pre conference, one or no losses in conference, a top seed and excellent chance at the Final Four. I don't think having similar setting styles is critical. I think the only thing that's critical is putting the ball in the same place (based on the call, of course) for the same hitter. Comes down to consistency and work to connect with hitters and understand their likes and HITTER tendencies.

Good point about Webster as she is planning to go pro. Allison also graduated in December.

Do anyone know if that was a recruit sitting with them or just a Texas student?

In the beginning of the season, I predict Texas will run a 6-2 with: S - Chloe (back row setter) S - Nicole (back row setter) Opp - Nicole (attacks/receives-serve when rotated to the front row) Opp - Molly (subs for Chloe in the front row) OH - Haley OH - Tiffany MB - Khat MB - Chi L - McCoy (subs for the MBs) DS - Pilar (subs for Tiffany in the back row) I think Chiaka will start at MB since she really excels at attacking in front of the setter, while Molly at Opp will still be able to run her slide attacks (similar to Sha'Dare) but she also has the ability to quickly transition off the net and attack with a traditional approach. Who knows if this is what Elliott is thinking, but I love this idea. Although id like to see how Baker does in the backrow before we assign her a DS. Well, I can tell you that Texas is planning on running both OH's 6 rotations. McCoy will Libero. It will be semi sort of like 2009 in a 6:2. Opp will be open, if Nicole is not ready to hit and only set then they will run a traditional 6:2 with the setters subbing for the Opps, which we have plenty of offense in each position. This is what I see.... Setter-Chloe -in for Opp Setter-Nicole-in for Opp OH1-Eckerman OH2-Baker MB1-Bell MB2-McCage Opp1-Chi Opp2- Mirta/Pilar If Nicole is ready to hit then I see her doing as Engle did in 09, playing all 6 rotations and setting out of backrow. She was groomed for Sha's spot but then injured and had surgery so....but she is strong and working hard now with the team and will play in 2014, and expect Baker to have a huge showing as well. Per an extremely valuable source Texas will run a very quick ball and with the passing evening out FINALLY/HOPEFULLY they will run 2 6 rotation OH's....that can tear up the ball out of the back row. Expect huge things from Texas in 2014. That's all I'm saying, oh and new uniforms too, expect that for sure, and they are very nice!!! Of course, along with the new court. With this team, I can see the 6:2 actually jiving! Just my thoughts guys!! Can't wait for all the mixing up in spring ball LOL!
