And even though it's probably too late, I will admit that it's possible we just heard about Nebraska back then, that it wasn't just the Huskers pushing the envelope.
I personally think that Pettit and Cook have overcome the most obstacles to build an elite program of any other elite program (although PSU was no piece of cake).

Depends on how you define "big change." To me, a big change will be Iowa is competitive. I think that happens this year. Competitive with Rutgers and Indiana? Yep, I agree.

Malibu to Iowa City, wow. She's from South Dakota, so I doubt that was a huge consideration. She said she wants a national championship and she thinks Iowa will give her the best chance under Bond. Girls must be buying what he's selling, at least. Erin Radke was from the same club and so she probably liked that about it too. Taylin is a beast, I look forward to seeing what Bond can do with the team this year!

People said the same thing about Wisconsin. IMO Iowa has a deeper hole to climb out of, but I can see them making the tourney within 4 years. Anything can happen once the tourney starts. A big thing Sheffield did with the Badgers is encourage the players to dream big and act/play/practice as if they were going all the way to Seattle. Not to limit expectations by saying their goal was just to make the tourney or come in top half of the conference. It sounds like Bond is taking the same approach. Good on him. If he can get the players believing they have that potential, that alone will make worlds of difference.

4 years? B1G teams make it with 6 wins. I don't think it has to take that long.

Yes, Wisconsin gives Iowa hope for a turnaround. But then again Wisconsin had the national high school Player of the Year and had played for a national championship before.

National championship? Think they should focus on getting by middle of BIG first, then teach for top of BIG then think about NC lol

The Wisconsin effect is in full bloom at Iowa. Everyone has elevated expectations that are verging on the ridiculous. I'm pretty sure the coaching staff is realistic in their plans.
Demi Morales is also causing every undersized volleyball player out there to send their videos to Bond. He is forwarding them to Kelly Sheffield.

Question- if Iowa gets good, then who are they going to take wins away from?
For a team to move up, se body has to move down.
I mean they probably vault over northwestern, but what after that.
I mean they can't play NW, Indiana, Rutgers, and Maryland 2x each every year

What they can do is start splitting with teams that have been sweeping them. First step is to start establishing a home court advantage. Or even a home court obstacle.

I don't know that she's delusional. When she said Iowa is her best chance one thing to consider is who's been recruiting her? If Penn state had been recruiting her, that would have been her best chance for a national championship, obviously. But I'm willing to assume that was not the case. Bond has been doing his best to pick up the best talent he can, and he's obviously selling the dream to his future players. A B1G school, even one that's been at the bottom, with a good coach and some support will give her a better chance than most other places. Plus believing is the first step to achieving.

Were they good? I know i am going to get thrown to the wolves for this but didnt Iowa take a set off Penn State this year? They must be HORRIBLE if they can take a set off the almighty Penn State Nittany Lions. Give these girls a break, I know you wouldnt want someone else talking about your daughter this way. And no I dont have a daughter on the team nor do I have any ties to Iowa Hawkeye Volleyball, I just get tired of seeing people like you slam these young ladies!!
