After watching several teams play this spring my adjusted rank:
2014 Rank 1. Texas 2. Kansas 3. Iowa Staye 4. Baylor 5. Oklahoma 6. Kansas State 7. West Virginia 8. TCU 9, Texas Tech
Texas is very talented but lacks experience/consistency in setting, Libero and the L2 position. They win the Big 12 with 2 losses. Iowa State looked very good with wins over Minn. Oklahoma looked very average. They lost to Baylor who was without their Leftside hitters.

Nicole is a fantastic setter, can block better and sets a smoother ball. Big improvement from Allison IMO. Defense is a question, but the freshman libero is supposed to be amazing

I think Tech will be above TCU According to Texas Tech's website they are having a medium spring. They just split spring matches with an NAIA and a D2 team. Doesn't sound like a team that'll make noise in the big12. Guess we will know more after they play better teams at lonestar this weekend.

Keep telling yourself that.... It really doesn't. Spring is when coaches goes through different experimental lineups and many will play the kids that won't see the court at all in the Fall. Some are also missing their freshmen who are expected to contribute in the Fall. In addition, Spring games are pretty relaxed with many of them being reffed by other teams that are at the tournament.

She has not set in a meaningful match in more than 1 year and her freshman season was okay overall. Does she have the potential to be a very good Texas setter? Of course. She was very good this past Saturday. But until the season begins and she sets against tougher opponents than New Mexico State, I'd hold off on singling her out as "fantastic". Same goes for Collins at this point.

Iowa State I think is undefeated this spring, beat some really good teams too. (Minnesota)

It could be the year for Iowa State to make a move again. Kansas had some heavy graduation losses. Still, I think Texas will win yet again and would expect them to lose no more than once.

Iowa State I think is undefeated this spring, beat some really good teams too. (Minnesota) Last weekend ISU swept Minnesota, MN swept Iowa, but then Iowa split with ISU. Despite their height advantage, ISU got blocked quite a bit by Iowa. Nolan was libero, and the transfer setter from Miss. State was setting that match. I'm sure the Cyclones will look smoother by next fall.

I think Allison brought consistency and experience but I loved the tempo even this weekend of Nicole's sets and think either her or Collins will have better ball distribution. I think Baylor is a Big 12 team that might be under the radar this season but could be tough to play. They have been steadily improving over the years and will get Andie Malloy joining them. She's really talented and all around player that received All Big 12 honors, if I'm not mistaken, from Iowa State her freshman year then transferred and also gave up a scholarship to play at Baylor.

You are right. Shouldn't have said fantastic. But I definitely think she has the potential to be. She has much better set placement that Allison, smoother sets and just is energetic on the court. Hopefully she gets the starting role
