As teams are competing or finishing spring seasons and a handful of programs wearing sport bras in the sand, let me get the Volleytalker minds spinning about the '14 Fall Season. Here is a stab in the dark at a top 10:
1. Stanford 2. Penn State 3. Washington 4. Wisconsin 5. Texas 6. USC 7. Illinois 8. Nebraska 9. Florida 10. Purdue
HM: Minnesota, BYU, Hawaii, Arizona State, Oklahoma, Florida State
Much of this sampling is based on '13 results, but also on returning talent and the rare freshmen who might contribute.

I think Washinton should be 5, Texas moves to 4 and Wisconsin to 3.

I see Hawaii somewhere between 16-20 as they've lost a lot in Hartong, Longo, and Uiato.

wisconsin #3?? hahahahahahahaha. i see people learned nothing from michigan's inflated ranking. But the biggest difference is Wisconsin reached the final, not just the Final Four, and beat the tournament's top seed. And they did it with a first-year coach and freshman setter.

I'm not sold on Wisconsin being that high so early. They may wind up there, but I think they have to prove it all over again. Same with Stanford.

And they did it with a first-year coach and freshman setter. sure. but what's similar? an ncaa run that's supposed to make people forget all about their regular season. this has more to do with matchups and getting hot than it does with a top 4 team, let alone top 10. wisconsin should take another step forward next year. but do not be surprised if they are still anywhere from 4th to 6th in the b1g. they still don't have the talent other programs have, carlini excepted.

I see Hawaii somewhere between 16-20 as they've lost a lot in Hartong, Longo, and Uiato. I agree to an extent. I don't think they will be a top ten ranked team like they usually are, but I see them in the 11-15 spots maybe 16 or 17. They definitely won't be ranked high with their pre confrence schedule because it's pretty weak top 25 teams wise, with only maybe only Oregon, asu being possibilities. But I honestly wouldn't be shocked to see them in the 16-20 range.

But are we all forgetting byu? They will be a force in 2014. They return their first team AA OPP Hamson, and Alexa gray will only get better. Plus their middles are pretty good as well. I see them easily taking the WCC, and making a deep tournament run

UW might be a little high. Ranked #3 there is saying a lot considering we are losing Gabbi Parker, Kylin Munoz, Jenni Nogueras, and Jenna Orlandini. They were all strong contributors. Of course we have much talent returning and with recruits, but IMO #3 puts us a little high with there going to be position battles and some question marks. Just my two cents.
Can say it's interesting to see Illinois at #7. I think they are poised for a big year. Illinois had a rough start in 2013 but finished strong by making an NCAAT appearance and winning a couple matches. The B10 is going to be tough again as usual.

I did forget about BYU. Add to HM list. IMO byu will be a top 5 team next year. They have arguably the best OPP in the nation in Hamson. They were 7th In blocks last year, and that was without Hamson. Alexa has first team AA potential in her. The one questionable spot is the setter, because IMO she wasn't that great. Good but not great. Byu will make a deep tournament run. Sweet 16 for sure. They have final four potential depending on their seed. But even if they meet stanford, Texas, penn state or any other top team in the round of 16 or 8, they have the fire power to beat those teams. But overall I really like your list
