I always thought Madam Secretary was an endless Hillary Clinton campaign ad. It may have been inspired by the Hilary Clintons and Madeleine Albrights, but it has taken a life of its own.

Holy Ughhh!!!
"The enemy of my enemy is my friend."
I've heard this quote in four different shows/movies in the past 2 weeks:
Covert Affairs (s5) Madam Secretary (s4) Narcos (s3) Operation Finale (2018) -- film
Jesus Christ! Please be more original!
I'm kind of surprised at Narcos because it's a pretty good and well-written TV show.

I finished Narcos this past week-end and started on Narcos Mexico S1. Both have been very good.
In Narcos I believe that line was "the enemy of my enemy is my friend... until they are not"

Watching Firefly right now. Interesting show, kind of weird how they try to mix Chinese into the dialogue and I can only understand some of what is being said. For example, the episode I am currently watching Inara kept saying "Go Se" (as per closed caption), in a derogatory reference to the ship Serenity. "Go Se", "Go Se"...what does "Go Se" mean? Actually, Imara pronounce it "Go Si"...and it dawned on me: 狗屎 (Gǒu shǐ, or dog sh*t).

Humans (s3)
It’s also called Humans 3.0. Season 2 is called Humans 2.0.
Just finished. I like this BBC series. Not my favorite of all favorites but it’s interesting enough. It’s basically about the rise of robots as they gain consciousness — or the ability to think independently and learn from experience.

Yes, as I understand it, most of the Chinese on the show were swear words that the network wouldn't let them say in English. Of course the concept was that in this future world, mainly two languages are known to everyone -- English and Chinese.

I've always wanted to know Wolfgang, are you retired? Stay-at-home dad or mom? Sitting on a nice trust fund/inheritance? How do you find the time to watch SO MANY shows? You said you watch a few every night? Man, I wish I could squeeze in a fraction of my time that you have for TV.

Okay, so first, you need to tag people if you want them to read your post. Second, here’s an executive summary to answer your questions: 1. If you simply watch DVDs at nights from, say, 9:00 - 11:00 PM on weeknights, you’ll get a lot of TV show viewing done. I only watch TV shows on DVD/Blu-ray. Add a couple more hours on Saturdays and Sundays, that’s eight more hours. In one week, you’d be able to watch 18 hours of episodes of a single season of any TV show. If the TV show has less than 18 episodes, you can complete an entire season in less than a week. My wife and I adhere to this schedule and we complete a buttload of TV shows on a regular basis. There’s really no excuse. 2. I’m not a stay-at-home dad. My two sons and daughter are, respectively, 31, 28, and 26. They’re living in, respectively, NC, San Diego, and Denver with their respective spouses and, in the case of my oldest son, their baby boy. In my house, it’s just me, my wife, and our German Shepherd Dog. 3. No trust fund or inheritance. None of my extended family whom I could possibly inherit from are rich. Whatever little money they have will most likely be passed down to their own kids (my cousins). I have no rich aunts or uncles. I myself am a military brat so my own parents aren’t rich. They live in the Central Coast of CA. 4. I’m retired. The circumstances surrounding that retirement shall remain clouded in mystery. I’ll just say this: I’m very good at planning, spend wisely, and am very lucky. You need a combination of these things in life. 5. I spend my days studying Chinese. Why Chinese? I wanted to learn a language spoken by a lot of people and is super difficult. So, I picked Chinese. I also exercise everyday to stay in shape, play video games, read a lot of books, walk/play with my doggy, and waste time on VT. I’m also very handy so I take on projects around the house. On some days, I watch DVDs on my own — only those titles my wife is not interested in watching.

You need a combination of these things in life. I suspected as much. Not having to work at least 8 hours a day in the office does wonder to your time management. Good thing you keep yourself occupied. I know some folks struggled to make the adjustment from work life to retirement life, with lots of responsibilities and work on you to abruptly having nothing to do, that can be jarring for some. I just hope I make the move better when it comes time for me to retire.

Shannara Chronicles
We've been watching this series recently. On season 2. It's entertaining but also very aggravating. There's always something frustratingly f***ed up in each episode, as in "I cannot believe how stupid these characters are!" For example, after a fight, they would always leave the bad guys alive and not incapacitated. And then, they're surprised that the same bad guys are back to thwart them? LOL! Idiots.
Anyone who knows anything about this series (or the fantasy series of books this show is based on) can illuminate?
