Match tied one set a piece. Questionable last two calls in set two gives Pepperdine the set.

Pepperdine refs are awful. They did it with UH and now with lbsu. Favoritism.

Olbright set Martin in all the wrong times, when he should've been dishing to Crabb

Just an idiot. That said....Pepperdine did play a great game and is a very good team. Good job this season Long Beach and we'll get them again next year!

Did Long Beach eventually pay for having the 6' Crabb and 6'1" Martin (at OPP) in at the same time? Saw one point near the end where Taylor absolutely went right over Martin, who may be a good blocker; couldn't really tell from the sideview.

I think the claim that the refs favored pepp is preposterous. I can think of several calls that favored lb. fact is that in any match there will be blown calls and they always seem to eve out.
Lb is one of the best defensive teams I've seen all year. Sato was amazing. I think they just ran out of steam at the end. Also, not much of a middle attack. Wonder who will set for lb next year. Thoughts? Butler was backup but pretty short in terms of blocking.

Taylor Crabb has proven that his height is not a disadavantage, can't say they same about the opposite though

Martin was on fire early & carried LB as LB dominated the first set. Interesting that this was only Martin's 3rd start, and Yould as the middle was only in his 2nd start after taking over from Gregory. in the end, LB couldn't decide on who their middle was the last two sets as Knipe went back and forth with Gregory & Yould, Gregory just didn't come thru at the end this year after a promising frosh season, he had a shot to tie it in the 3rd at 22-23 and Gregory hit it long - that was effectively the end of match. The Pepp middle attack was the difference. What may have hurt LB was this line-up not having more time than two weeks together, too little too late.

In critical points, refs ignored lifts from Pepperdine , called unnecessary calls against hawaii and let Pepperdine out balls, and call them in.

I don't think the refs favored Pepperdine (cuz Pep suuure played well) but my opinion rests with the head ref. Like I said, I've seen him consistenly miss obvious or just make bad calls over the years. For such an important game for both teams, he shouldn't be the head ref.
