I am depressed and need a shoulder to cry on. I can't accept the fact that Long Beach State got knocked out in the quarterfinal and Taylor Crabb will no longer be around...
Although I knew Pepperdine had the mental edge over Long Beach State and on paper was supposed to win, I honestly thought LB had the ingredients to pull an upset. In fact, Long Beach played very well in the first 2 sets. If these 2 sets were a tennis match, Long Beach would be the player with the flawless footwork.
But in the second set at 24-23 (set point Beach) Dalton Ammerman committed a silly unforced error (bad pass) which, in my opinion, cost LB the set and the match.
Long Beach should've won the 2nd set and had they won it, it would've been really tough for Pepp to come back from a 0-2 deficit given the fact that LB was on fire and so was its fans.
Having lost the 2nd set, LB seemed too devastated to regroup while Pepperdine was making full use of their good form.
I really feel sorry for Taylor Crabb. Players his caliber should at least win 1 NCAA title. Tillie did, Carson Clark did and it looks like Taylor Sander will. Oh well, I just have to remember tomorrow if I failed an exam or screw up a job interview, Taylor Crabb would not be sad for me.

Disappointing ending for LB state. I thought after last season they would be able to come back and pull it off only losing really one starter. But you know the saying, "if you aren't getting better you are getting worse." Unfortunately for them other teams this season stepped up their level. The seniors all deserve applause because those guys gave it their all. On a positive note LB had depth, Cody Martin proved that he can be a force next season for the beach. Taylor Gregory is a solid middle who will be even better next season and you have to remember that the #1 recruit for 18's as 17 year old TJ Defalco committed to LB, only matter of time till they are championship contenders again!

Oh well, I just have to remember tomorrow if I failed an exam or screw up a job interview, Taylor Crabb would not be sad for me. agreed, the 2nd set was devasting. LB brought their band (actually it seemed Pepperdine came to life after the LB band started playing in the 2nd set and their dance team. LB had a ton of fans, it was a great atmosphere and even Karch was there. Didn't help for the head ump confusing everything towards the end of the 1st set and then again at the end of the 2nd set with the calls. the nail in the coffin was Gregory hitting long with LB down 22-23 in the 3rd set that would have tied it after a LB comeback - Gregory should have nailed that shot. and then Knipe subbing Gregory & Yould back and forth searching for an answer in the middle in the 4the set was exasperating to watch. really though Gregory was going to be a bigger force this year after his great frosh year, he is the guy that I expected to add the most to the veterans. and where was Cody Martin all year, the one thing LB lacked all year was an energy guy, Martin was great emotionally really sad that Crabb won't be in a final four, the Chicago fans will be missing out

Good to see an Arizona boy (Cody Martin) doing well in the big time!

Blowing set two was devastating and then not being able to finish climbing back in set three. Bad errors at crucial times. The middles did not get it done. The middle/bic attacks were not working. Pepp was all over Crabb on the bic. And I think Olbright went to Cody Martin at the wrong times. There's going to be a lot of heartache this season. Definitely can't say for sure that Taylor Sander will get his ring.

Good to see an Arizona boy (Cody Martin) doing well in the big time! Cody from AZ is spectacular and really FUN to watch. His numbers are much better than Ian's and, IMO, he's the reason LB almost won 2 sets back to back. The kid jumps high and hits the ball solidly with perfect timing and perfect point of contact on the sweet spot. Basic volleyball but in the end it always pays dividend! Cody Martin serves well but occasionally tends to rush. I hope being 6'1" won't be a liability.

He almost quit to play basketball here at a local JC, but had a change of heart. Thought they might have redshirted him this year. As for his height, I keep thinking he's still growing-his feet are huge!

Cody will be the go to OH next season for Long Beach, that is my prediction. Cool. I've never seen him play outside. He set and played OPP here in high school. Not sure how good his passing is, but I think he'll do fine. Will be fun to see him play MB and hit BIC's.

After seeing the score 25-17 over Pepp, I was thinking that Beach was going be upset #2 of last weekend. There was hope ... but that went away.
You will regroup allymcbeal I have confidence you can "deal with it". Hope that makes you feel better.
OK one more - Crabb is pretty good too. Not Sander great - but pretty darn good. Reminds a lot of Pekka from the now historic UOP program a number of years back who played way taller than 6ft.

Kind of a side not, Taylor Crabb and Taylor Sander played doubles this summer. Imagine playing that team. Who do you serve? Haha

It's hard to overcome the blues with LB losing I seriously hope Bank of America will approve my home loan soon. Their approval will cheer me up a bit Thanks

Loved Crabb as a player and will miss he isn't in the NCAA anymore. Even worse, hardly anyone couldn't see him at home, w/ not video stream. All LBSU fans/alumn need to get on that!

LBSU lost 6 out of their last 9 matches after winning 8 in a row. Something happened to this team mid/late season and they just couldn't turn it around. It just shows how fine a line it is to win in the MPSF.
