Watching for Texas in the top 10 is like sitting on a boat in the middle of Loch Ness waiting for the Monster to make an appearence.

top 10? uuuuum no.
they could definitely be in the low teens but i dont think they'll be a top 10 team. they could be very good if they drop the 6-2 and clean up the ball control and defense.

good call on the 6-2, I don't think it will last for long once the freshman gets a few more matches under her belt, however it does give them some great options as they legitimately can go 6'2" across the net in almost every rotation...

This always reminds me Jimmy the Greek and the Oakland Raiders. Every year, he always picked the Raiders to win, regardless of how good they were.
There was actually a spoof of it on SNL once. They were doing an NFL on CBS (with Kevin Nealon doing Brent Musburger, I think) and they go to Jimmy the Greek and ask him what does he think of the game today. It was something like,
"Well Bwent, I had lunch with Al Davis (AB comment: Raiders owner) last week, and he told me, 'Watch out! For the Raiders. Next year.'"
It was funny because it was the way Jimmy the Greek was.
It is the same with Texas. Every year, someone says "Watch out for Texas." And then they go on with their typical season.

Waiting for Texas to play solid competition before I reserve judgement on them. They're on the radar though with no upsets, which hasn't been said in a while with them.

There is so much parity this year that we could be waiting for a dozen teams to battle their way in and out of the top ten by the end of the year. The strength and steadiness of the top 5 is so shaken, it is not funny.

I've got money on the line that says Jerritt Elliott will be long gone before Texas reaches the Sweet Sixteen.

Well the defense and ball control are looking very good. I know they haven't played anyone huge, but so far D and ball control have improved 200% from last year. Also, it seems as of this last tourney that Jerritt is favoring the 5-1. Jenny Andrew only played in the third games this past weekend. If they stick with Moriarty setting, this team could surprise many people.

Yeah, it was boring but the looked better against the weaker teams than they did last year. Last season, thoses games would have been a lot closer, maybe they would have gone to 4 or 5 with those teams also. So I guess it was just better to finally see them dominating the teams that they should be dominating, but it was pretty boring overall.
